action

Jan lives in Berlin. One day he loses his job in the meat factory. In addition, his ex-girlfriend tells him that she is HIV- positive and may have infected him. There he met the musician and bon vivant Vera when he happened to get into a street battle and defended her against two plainclothes police. He is arrested and given a fine. He tries to suppress the thought of a possible HIV infection, but then wants to deal with it. Because of the relationship he has just begun with Vera, he sometimes forgets the intolerance of his existence. He dares to start over while Vera has secrets. She sneaks out of bed night after night, failing to explain her behavior.

criticism

In it, everyday things in life are given that “bigger than life” that cinema needs. Michael Fischer of Associated Press described the film as an "everyday sketch from today's Berlin".

“An episodic film, oscillating between comedy and melancholy. It thrives on the precision of its casualness and draws a sober picture of life in the German capital in a cleverly linked sequence of individual fates. A remarkably stimulating attempt to reflect everyday reality and the dwindling social relationship patterns in the medium of comedy. "

The film took part in the Berlinale competition in 1997 , but received nothing when it came to the award. Jürgen Vogel won the gold film tape at the German Film Awards in the category “ Best Acting Performance - Male Leading Role ”.
