Christiane Paul (born March 8, 1974 in Berlin - Pankow ) is a German actress .

Life and professional history

Christiane Paul comes from a family of doctors, her father is an orthopedist and surgeon and her mother an anesthetist . From 1980 to 1990 she attended the Ernst Busch Polytechnic in Pankow. After graduating from the Friedrich List School in Berlin-Niederschönhausen in 1992 , she also studied medicine at the Humboldt University in Berlin and received her doctorate in 2002. She gave up the profession of doctor in 2004 in order to focus on acting again in addition to looking after her daughter to dedicate.

She worked early as a photo model for magazines such as Bravo and received her first leading role in the film Deutschfieber at the age of 17 . In parallel to her medical studies, she worked as an actor and studied for a short time at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York City .

Christiane Paul has a daughter from a previous relationship (* 2002). In August 2006 she married the surgeon Wolfgang Schwenk (* 1963), whom she met during her training as a doctor at the Charité in Berlin . She has a son with him (* 2007). In 2009 the couple moved to Hamburg because their husband took up a position as chief physician there. She has lived in Berlin with her children since mid-2011 and was divorced in 2013. She is married to a Berlin physicist for the second time.

Paul does theater from time to time and has read several audio books.

In 2016 Paul received the International Emmy Award for Best Actress.

She is a member of the German Film Academy .

Christiane Paul is the national ambassador of the World AIDS Day campaigns in 2005 and 2007 to 2009 in Germany, supports the " Your Voice against Poverty" campaign , is a member of the nature alliance established by the then Federal Minister Sigmar Gabriel on the occasion of the CBD- COP9, which advocates works to preserve biological diversity , lives environmentally conscious and fights for better education. She was a member of the Amnesty International jury at the Berlinale 2007 and says: “Well-made films can awaken, deepen or broaden our understanding of complex issues such as human rights . And in the best case scenario, a film can motivate viewers to get involved in the rights and dignity of the victims of human rights violations. ”Christiane Paul is also involved in the Berlin social project Die Arche .
