Carlo Rola

Carlo Rola (born October 6, 1958 in Spalt , Middle Franconia ; † March 14, 2016 in Berlin ) was a German film and television director , film producer and screenwriter (story development, dialogue dramaturgy).

Life

Carlo Rola studied law in Frankfurt am Main from 1978 and earned his living as a stuntman in the theater.

From 1981 he devoted himself exclusively to the theater and opera , was assistant director and employee of, among others, Hans Neuenfels , Ruth Berghaus and Peter Stein in various productions in Hamburg, Frankfurt and Berlin. He made his debut as a director in Frankfurt in 1983 with an English-language production of Endstation Sehnsucht . At the same time he was working as a production manager for cinema and television productions.

In 1994 Carlo Rola was a lecturer for advertising film at the University of Film and Television "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam-Babelsberg , 1999 and 2001 for directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) .

Since his beginnings as a director, he has regularly revised scripts and took over "Dialogue-Polishing". He developed the material ideas for 15 episodes of Rosa Roth , Die Patriarchin and Afrika Mon Amour . He was also responsible as a director for national and international commercials , trailers and music videos .

In 1996 he founded with Oliver Berben the MOOVIE the art of entertainment GmbH in Berlin. Since then, more than 40 films have been produced there, 30 of them under his direction.

Carlo Rola was married to the actress Dennenesch Zoudé . He died of sudden cardiac death in March 2016 at the age of 57 .
