The Soloist - No way back is a thriller of director Carlo Rola from 1999. In the lead role embodies Iris Berben the role of drug-addicted prostitutes Maja.
action
Maja, a prostitute known to the police, allegedly witnesses a murder case and reports to the Hamburg police to make her statement. However, in return, she would like to be included in a leniency program. She allegedly saw with her own eyes how a lady, dressed all in black, was involved in a traffic accident in which she was trapped between two vehicles and killed.
Your statement is recorded and the traffic accident is shelved , as the police do not suspect a criminal background. However, it is included in the leniency program, as this condition was approved by the police at the beginning of the witness interview. Since Maja expressed the fear that she would have to fear her life, police chief Grabowski orders the personal protection of Maja by the two police officers Lanart and Marquardt: Maja is to be hidden in a country house, remote from the city, and constantly protected there.
When the two officers are to be replaced by two others, this replacement turns out to be a trap, because the two new officers want to kill Maja. There is a shootout in which the officer Lanart Maja is able to save, but his colleague Marquardt is fatally hit by a bullet.
After the shooting, the officer Lanart learns that Maja actually did not see the fatal traffic accident; rather, she was offered money for her testimony to the police by those behind the incident. Lanart thus realizes that the police themselves must be somehow involved in the traffic accident and are now aware that he is now on the run with Maja in order to protect his own life and that of Maja, since he can no longer trust anyone.
