Although the band split up in 1982, the band still comes together for occasional reunion concerts. B. in August 2011 for a performance at Wacken Open Air .
Hans-Martin Stier moved to Berlin and took private acting lessons. This was followed by engagements at theaters in Berlin ( Renaissance Theater , Freie Volksbühne ) and in Hamburg ( Deutsches Schauspielhaus ). He was, among other things, as John Proctor in witch hunt , as Tobias Rülp in Shakespeare's What you want and as Dr. Scott on stage on The Rocky Horror Show .
In the mid-1980s, film and television became aware of the beefy mimes. Stier played one of his first cinema roles in 1987 in Wim Wenders ' feature film Der Himmel über Berlin . At first he was often committed to the villain part, but soon directors recognized his comedic talent and qualities as a character actor.
Since then, Stier has mostly been seen in prominent supporting roles, for example in Detlev Buck's box office hit We Can Also Be Different ... (1992), in Peter Thorwarth's Ruhrpott comedy What Doesn't Fit Is Made to Fit, or in the youth drama Fickende Fisch (2002) as the father of one HIV positive boys. He drew international attention as a general in the war film Duel - Enemy at the Gates (2001).
Since the mid-1990s, Hans-Martin Stier has increasingly been in front of the camera for TV series and crime novels, often in recurring roles. His spectrum ranges from the ZDF crime series Ein Fall für Zwei (as Kommissar Reuter) to the ProSieben medical series Klinikum Berlin Mitte (as Professor Bischoff) to the Sat.1 comedy Hausmeister Krause (as Dachshund Club President Göbel). From 2003 to 2012 he played Ben Schneider, the superior of SOKO Cologne , in the ZDF series of the same name.
In 2007 he founded with Charlie Steinberg , Walter Stöver (both Törner Stier Crew), Lee C. Pinsky (SoundMetZger) and Tom Günzel the band "Kahle Mönche", which in 2009 was renamed "Stier".
After a long time in Berlin, Stier lives with his wife and children in Bergisch Gladbach .
