Since Ella Herbst is decried as a diva and has bullied many people over the years with her whims and special requests, not only the audience is angry. She is covered with millions claims for breach of contract, while the second occupation finally gets a chance. It gets worse because her long-time partner has gambled away her entire fortune and has now left. The rest of her property, including her luxurious condominium, is pledged and Ella is forced to move into her old youth room with her father in the Cologne suburb. The diva has reached the bottom.

But Ella Herbst doesn't give up. She takes loving care of her father and tries to get a new job. But the job search turns out to be difficult. It is rejected everywhere. So she accepts the first offer and becomes head of the prison choir of the Cologne prison. But even though she throws herself into her new work full of vigor, she has to discover that the barely or not at all talented inmates are only interested in reducing their term of imprisonment by means of points of behavior. However, the Italian Angelo Manuardi, who is imprisoned for fraudulent marriage, arouses Ella's interest and not only because he has a very beautiful voice. The unlikely couple fall in love.

Reviews

"Harmless television comedy based on a popular entertainment novel."

“Director Katinka Feistl [...] staged the fall of a diva based on the motifs of Hera Lind's novel of the same name. As in her other books, Lind also incorporated her own life experiences into "Schleuderprogramm", because the Bielefeld-born author graduated from Cologne University of Music and was a professional opera singer for a while. Despite many clichés and a freeze that badly imitates the singing, the story of the ups and downs in the life of an opera singer has a few good moments. "

“The purification story according to Hera Lind is truly a waste of time. But "Danni Lowinski" Annette Frier plays the whole scale with relish, from hysterical to delicate. And after 90 minutes everyone will fervently sing along or at least hum along with the prisoner's choir from Giuseppe Verdi's "Nabucco". [...] mood thanks to Ms. Frier and Mr. Verdi "

“With the change of the heroine, this ZDF entertainment film gains - not necessarily in depth, but in morality, in wit, in esprit. The career kink as an opportunity to become human. And for the viewer there are also great feelings, rousing music, a few trace elements from everyday social life, little gags, lovingly packaged messages. And comfort guarantee Annette Frier. "
