Micki Meuser

Micki Meuser (real name: Hans Georg Meuser ) is a German film composer , music producer and bass player .

Meuser lives in Berlin and is the composer of numerous film scores for film and television, as well as the producer of several well-known German artists. He is the 1st chairman of the German Film Composers Union DEFKOM, on the board of the DKV and on the supervisory board of GEMA .

Life

Meuser had his first national successes in 1976 with the jazz rock group Out ( Theo Jörgensmann , Hendrik Schaper and Udo Dahmen ). After playing bass in various studios and jazz bands in Cologne and Hamburg, he played bass on the Charlie Mariano album October in 1977 . In 1977 he was hired as a studio bassist for an album with Ina Deter , which resulted in a long-term collaboration.

In 1978 he produced his first album as a producer / music director with the artist Bettina Wegner for the record company CBS . The album immediately placed in the top 20 of the German charts. This was followed by further albums produced by Meuser with Ina Deter ( New men need the country ) and the band Ideal (Bi Nuu).

At the same time Meuser worked with his own band Nervous Germans , for which he composed two albums, produced and played bass.

In 1984 Meuser dissolved the Nervous Germans and started the duo The Window Speaks with the Australian Nervous Germans singer Grant Stevens . In addition, other successful album productions followed with Die Ärzte (Im Schatten der Ärzte), Invisible Limits, Flatsch, Rodgau Monotones and Silly ( Bataillon d'Amour , 1986)

In 1989 Meuser wrote the broadcasting symbols for WDR 1 and 2 , as well as for Belgian radio .

From 1990 album productions and songwriting for Herwig Mitteregger ( Spliff ), the Lassie Singers , Lemonbabies , Schön Blond, Jürgen Marcus and Heike Makatsch followed .

From 1993 Meuser turned more and more away from the recording industry and changed his focus on instrumental and film music. In 1994, under the project name SonicAmbience , he released three CDs of instrumental music in the New Age style , which found resonance in the USA. In 1996 the music for the German / French / English cinema production Obsession was created . In 1999 the music for the mystery movie Deeply . In 2000/2001, the music for the first and only season (13 episodes) of the American-Canadian TV series MythQuest followed .

In the period that followed, music productions continued to decline (albums with Microphone Mafia , headphones, Stella Ahangi, Silke Frost) and film music increased. In 2003 and 2004 Meuser wrote the music for two seasons of the Pro7 series What does not fit is made to fit . This was followed by numerous pieces of music for TV feature films such as Antechamber to Hell 1−3 , Father out of the blue , A summer in Cape Town , A summer in Scotland (all ZDF) and for the white and blue stories .

Meuser is currently writing other film scores, primarily for ZDF. He is also actively involved in association and political work. Since 2010 he has been deputy chairman of the professional association for media musicians mediamusic eV, since 2011 chairman of DEFKOM (German Film Composers Union). In the creative industry initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economics, he works for the interests of music authors.
