Peter Franke (born July 19, 1941 in Breslau ) is a German theater and film actor .

Life

Franke originally wanted to be an opera singer and also studied singing at the Folkwang School in Essen . In Düsseldorf he attended a private drama school. After completing his studies, he performed in various cellar and room theaters from 1961 to 1968. From 1969 to 1972 he was engaged at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and from 1972 to 1974 at the stages of the city of Cologne .

At the beginning of his career, Franke mainly took part in plays. Among other things, he played the title role at the Schauspiel Frankfurt , where he worked from 1974 to 1978, in the world premiere of the play Der Dauerklavierspieler (by Horst Laube , directed by Luc Bondy ) and Arlequin in the play The Unstability of Love (by Pierre Carlet de Marivaux ).

He had further engagements from 1978 to 1980 at the Bremen Theater , 1980 to 1985 at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus (Hamburg), 1985 to 1988 at the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin and 1988 to 1994 at the Thalia Theater (Hamburg). He sang Papageno in Mozart's Magic Flute at the Lübeck Opera in 1999/2000. At the Hamburger Kammerspiele he played in the play Die Jungs with the Tüdelband . The piece is about the Wolf brothers , who were Hamburg Jews and musicians. At the St. Pauli Theater Franke played in the Brecht play The Threepenny Opera together with Ulrich Tukur and Eva Mattes .

The greatest successes of his cinema career were Schlafes Bruder , Migratory Birds ... Once to Inari and The Miracle of Bern . In the film about the Football World Cup in 1954 , Franke plays the national coach Sepp Herberger .

In addition to working for the theater and television, Franke had many large and small appearances, e. B. the solo part in the Canto General as well as recitals in school halls, restaurants or readings in bars with the Hamburg singer heap.

On August 13, 2016, Peter Franke was a guest on the “Red Sofa” for the third time in the regional evening program “DAS!” On NDR television.
