The silence of the Commissioner

False Liebe is a crime film in the crime series Bella Block by director Julian Pölsler from 2008. In the lead role , Hannelore Hoger plays the Hamburg chief inspector Bella Block, who is looking for a woman murderer and runs the risk of being caught by a fraudster.

Bella Block is present when a man suspected of murdering a woman shoots himself. She cannot prevent this act of suicide. Nevertheless: Due to the suicide carried out, the murder of a woman remains unsolved, many questions remain unanswered, which move Bella Block not to put the case on file, but to investigate further.

In the meantime, it occurs to Bella's partner Simon to purchase a sailing boat from the likeable Bernhard Hansen. Whether Simon can afford this purchase is another matter. Bella is more bothered by the fact that Simon becomes friends with the seller and later even goes out with his fiancé, a single widow.

Furthermore, he even manages to persuade Bella to come along too. As a result, even Bella Block is impressed by the new friend's charm and empathy. In the further course of the action, as is often the case, these circumstances lead to minor quarrels in her relationship with her partner Simon.

In the course of their investigation into the murder case, a lead leads to Bernhard of all people. Now the inspector doubts whether it was the right decision to get involved in these friendships and begins to consider whether she herself, like her partner Simon, may have fallen for an impostor. The only question is how to get solid evidence to put the man on his fraudulent craft. But the Commissioner still has doubts about this, because even if she could convict Bernhard of the fraud, it would still not be credibly demonstrated that he is also the murderer.

Norbert Sauer produced the 25th episode of the Bella Block series for UFA on behalf of ZDF . The film was shot in Hamburg .

The ZDF produced an audio film version of the episode in 2015 .

Rainer Tittelbach sums up that the main character Bella Block had a “brilliant duel” with her opponent Bernhard Hansen. Furthermore, the critic is of the opinion that it is a detailed crime thriller in which "the psychological situation of the overly critical-pessimistic commissioner and her companion, who tends to be naive, is played out from a criminal philosophy perspective".
