The opposite of love is a German television film by Dagmar Hirtz from 2004. It is the 15th film in the Bella Block film series .

action

Six year old Oskar Liebich is missing and Bella Block begins to investigate. She fears that he may have suffered the same fate as Kevin Petersen, who was found dead three months ago with numerous stab wounds. The perpetrator has not been caught until today and a serial murder is conceivable. The commissioner first sheds light on Oskar's environment. His mother is a single parent with two children. The partner and father of their children is Thomas Engler, whose marriage is divorced. Engler is heavily involved in the search for Oskar, which his daughter Laura from the divorced marriage displeases because he now has even less time for her. His brother mobilizes the press and starts a public search for the boy. Bella Block assumes Martin Engler has a purely financial interest because he is a journalist himself and wants to market the story exclusively. Engler, on the other hand, accuses Oskar's mother of not caring enough for the children who, in his opinion, are only in her way. However, the Commissioner cannot find any evidence of this.

After days of unsuccessful search, Oskar is found lifeless in a waterless swimming pool. His hands and feet were handcuffed and apparently died of hypothermia in the cold December temperatures. Bella Block is certain that Oskar knew his killer and that she will find him in the child's immediate environment. When Oskar's sister Ronja also disappears, she is extremely alarmed. Everything indicates that the solution to the case lies in the family situation, and she suspects big sister Laura. The superintendent speaks to Laura, and it turns out that she is extremely jealous of her half-siblings. In tears, Laura reveals the place where she hid Ronja so that she can be saved.

Bella Block states: Children are first victims - then perpetrators. Laura says that she met Oskar and he said that he was bored. She didn't really want to, but then she cycled with him to the old swimming pool and tied and gagged him there for fun. After he had told her that her parents were getting married, Laura was so shocked that she ran away and left Oskar helpless.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said: “She's never been one to look away. And so the cases of Bella Block often have something brutally human about them and at the same time hold up a mirror to society. ”“ 'The opposite of love' is a particularly good episode in the series. Dagmar Hirtz filmed the clever book by Katrin Bühlig about the loss of love and its fatal consequences in calm images, with melancholy poetry and a great ensemble. "

"The complex (television) crime thriller tells of private and professional setbacks and places the likeable protagonist in an interesting field of tension marked by professional frustrations."

"A shocking case, not for the faint-hearted."
