Nicole Heesters (born February 14, 1937 in Potsdam ) is a German actress and radio play speaker .

Life

Nicole Heesters, a daughter of Johannes Heesters and his first wife, the Flemish actress and operetta singer Louisa Ghijs , grew up in Austria . As a teenager, she played minor roles in German films in the early 1950s. In 1953 she stood in front of the camera for the first time in Ich und mein Frau , in 1954 this song remains with you followed , and in the same year she made her debut at the Vienna Volkstheater in the title role of the successful play Gigi . She was then committed to the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus .

Heesters completed an acting training at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna . At the theater she worked under directors such as Peter Stein , Boy Gobert and Andrea Breth . She had engagements at the Schauspielhaus Graz , in Düsseldorf , at the Thalia Theater Hamburg , at the Schauspielhaus Bochum , the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin , at the Theater in der Josefstadt and numerous others. Since 1973 she has been a member of the Free Academy of the Arts in Hamburg.

As Commissioner Buchmüller , she was the first ever female crime scene investigator in three episodes between 1978 and 1980 . She is still regularly in front of the camera for television films.

Heesters also made a name for herself as a spokesperson for sophisticated audio book productions, for example with works by Friedrich Schiller . Since 2008 she has been a member of the board of trustees of the German Audio Book Prize .

Nicole Heesters was married to the set designer Pit Fischer until his death and lives in Hamburg. Her daughter Saskia Fischer also works as an actress, her son is an event manager . Her sister Wiesje Herold-Heesters lives as a pianist in Vienna.

Heesters belonged to the ensemble of the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus for several seasons .

Awards

She was honored with the Golden Curtain in Berlin for her outstanding theater performances. In 1976 she received the honorary award Silver Mask from the members of the Hamburger Volksbühne . In 2000 she was awarded the Curt Goetz Ring for five years . In 2006 she received the Rolf Mares Prize for her portrayal in Vita and Virginia at the Hamburger Kammerspiele . In 2014 she received the Nestroy Theater Prize in the “Best Actress” category for her portrayal of Vera in Before Retirement at the Theater in der Josefstadt . In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Nicole Heesters received the Louise Dumont Topaz on February 22, 2015 at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus . On October 9, 2019, she was awarded honorary membership of the Hamburger Volksbühne. In 2019 she was honored for her role in the radio play version of the novel The Years by Annie Ernaux at the ARD Radio Play Days for the best acting performance.
