Oswald Döpke

Oswald Döpke (born June 26, 1923 in Eldagsen ; † July 5, 2011 in Munich ) was a German actor , director and screenwriter .

Life

After completing an apprenticeship in bookselling in Hanover , Döpke began training as an actor in 1940 at the State Music School in Braunschweig. During the Second World War he was taken prisoner of war.

In 1946 Döpke worked as an actor in Hanover and Bielefeld before he accepted a position as a dramaturge in 1949 and staged numerous radio plays as a director . In 1953 Döpke became head of the radio play department and later head of the television play department of Radio Bremen .

From 1963 to 1988 he worked as a leading director at ZDF and also staged theater productions. During this time, around 100 films and 450 radio plays were made under his direction. His written estate is in the archive of the Academy of Arts in Berlin.
