Dangerous Dreams - A Woman's Secret is a thriller by the director Carlo Rola from the year 2000. Iris Berben plays the main role of the lawyer Nora Bruhn, who is threatened by an unknown person.

action

Successful and attractive lawyer Nora Bruhn is on her way home after a hard day. She is ambushed and barely escapes rape by an unknown person. A short time later, her pet, a cat, is tortured to death. When she then constantly receives anonymous threatening letters, her life turns completely out of joint; she feels constantly pursued, watched and threatened.

She can no longer trust anyone, except for the journalist Leonard Cass and her neighbor David. Her constant fear of becoming a victim of violence also diminishes her professional qualities: She is no longer as successful in her profession as a lawyer as she used to be. When it turns out that Leonard is in reality a private detective and has only pretended to be a journalist, her trust in him is reinforced and she confides in him that her neighbor, David, will take care of her, which is sometimes a bit too intrusive for her appears.

Leonard explains to Nora that he has been assigned to find an ex-boyfriend who disappeared without a trace some time ago. He was commissioned by the abandoned woman's sister. Talking to Nora and Leonard begins to create a delightful atmosphere. It is true that one cannot directly speak of being in love, because Nora still has a spark of suspicion, but the allure of the unknown, accompanied by a certain mutual irritation, does exist. The two find each other “attractive” in a certain way.

Shortly afterwards, Nora receives a threatening-sounding message: "We'll see you again" is scrawled on her mirror. Now she panics and asks Leonard in a nagging tone whether he left her this message, but Leonard assures that he does not even know what she is talking about and what she is so upset about.

In the further course, Nora agrees with Leonard for a night together after she had told him about her happy childhood. Everything seems to be fine again until the next morning Nora discovers a strange scar on Leonard's leg. She recognizes this scar again; he is the man who tried to rape her back then on her way home.

The plot now falls into complete confusion: Her neighbor David confirms her suspicion that Leonard is the potential rapist, while Leonard finds out that the alleged attack on Nora was not registered with the police. He also learns that Nora has changed her place of residence very often in the past few years and wonders what Nora is hiding.
