Herbert Knaup (born March 23, 1956 in Sonthofen ) is a German actor .

Herbert Knaup grew up in the Allgäu as the son of a musician who also worked as an accompanist for Lale Andersen at times. His sister Renate (* 1948) has been the singer of the band Amon Düül since 1968 , while his brother Karl (* 1950) is also an actor.

He was in a relationship with the model and the later photographer Ellen von Unwerth in the 1970s , lived with the actress Natalia Wörner between 1993 and 2001 and has been married to Christiane Lehrmann since 2006. Herbert Knaup has two sons and lives in Berlin .

Career

After graduating from high school (secondary school leaving certificate), he completed his military service and then went to Munich , where he attended the renowned Otto Falckenberg drama school. After training as an actor, Knaup did a one-year internship at the Münchner Kammerspiele . From 1978 he was engaged by numerous theaters all over the country, including playing in Heidelberg , Basel , Bremen , Vienna and Cologne and in the same year made his film debut with Coda .

Knaup is a co-initiator of the Federal Association of Film and TV Actors, which was founded in April 2006 .

The band Neffen und Knaup has existed since 2007 and consists of Herbert Knaup and his two nephews Maurus and Magnus Fleischmann. At the same time as the album was released, they began a tour through Germany .

The songs were recorded in Knaup's private studio in Erlbach, Weichs , in the Dachau district. The CD was released by the record label Knaup Records , which Knaup founded himself. It is not a permanent project as the two nephews live in the United States.
