action

Doctor Dr. Susanne Meissner actually planned everything perfectly: She wants to go on vacation to the North Sea with her new boyfriend Markus Sedlow , while her children Toni, Valerie and Ludwig, like every summer, spend ten days with her father Ferdinand, from whom Susanne is divorced Travel mountains. The children do not yet know Markus and Susanne does not manage to give 16-year-old Toni an important detail in time: Markus is Toni's math teacher who only recently let him slip through an attempt at an important final exam. When Markus first appeared at the Meissner family, Toni was as surprised as it was shocked. He retires to his room and refuses Markus, even if it is his mother's first friend in five years. Ferdinand appears a short time later and is already planning an active holiday with the children. However, he falls over the family dog and sprains his ankle. Of necessity, Susanne and the rather unsportsmanlike Markus have to go to the mountains with the children.

The mood is tense and Toni in particular doesn't even think about accommodating Markus. As originally planned, the family with Markus first goes to the climbing park, where the teacher does not cut a good figure. During the subsequent bathing, Susanne and Markus believe that Toni is pushing Valerie underwater for fun and Markus reacts uncontrollably when Valerie threatens to go under and has to be rescued by him. Toni feels misunderstood because he only wanted to help Valerie, who had a calf cramp. Markus apologizes to Toni, but he is unforgiving. Susanne believes that Toni reacts this way because he wants to protect her as a mother. On a mountain hike, Susanne retires prematurely, supposedly because she has to do something for work. Markus continues with the children and stops at a mountain hut, where Valerie meets 16-year-old Kilian. Although he advises them not to go any further to a summer toboggan run , Toni has his way. The four of them get caught in a violent thunderstorm, from which Kilian rescues them by jeep. He drives her back to the holiday cabin, where he makes an appointment with Valerie. Ferdinand is already waiting for them at the hut, who received a special splint in Munich and now wants to spend the holidays with his children. Toni in particular is enthusiastic and takes Ferdinand's side. So it happens that Markus and Susanne go to Lienz alone while Ferdinand goes on a rafting tour with the children .

At Ferdinand's suggestion, Markus goes for a drink with him. They return to the hut drunk and Ferdinand indicates that he has spent New Year's Eve with Susanne. That makes Markus think, he was already with Susanne at the time and was spending New Year's Eve alone because she wanted to celebrate with friends. During a swim at Obersee, Markus confronts Susanne and she weighs her down. He goes back to the holiday home alone, upset. Ferdinand later confesses to her that he still loves her, but Susanne rejects him. Toni listens to the conversation. When everyone starts a difficult climbing tour on the last day, Markus asks Susanne whether she slept with Ferdinand on New Year's Eve. She doesn't answer him. On the mountain, Toni indicates to him that something happened between Ferdinand and Susanne while he was pouting. Markus has had enough and hits Ferdinand with a punch when he has ground under his feet again. He doesn't want to know anything about Susanne either and returns home early from vacation. He ignores your calls as well as the advances his neighbor makes for him.

Everyday work begins again and Susanne soon has enough of Ferdinand, who appears more and more often in her house without being asked. She gives the children to him for a week, as stipulated in the divorce contract, but he cannot handle them and brings them back to her after a few hours. While Markus speaks to a friend and he persuades him to return to Susanne, Susanne realizes that Toni drove Markus away with lies. She goes to Markus, but only finds the neighbor in his apartment who has secretly gained access to the apartment. Susanne cries when she comes home. Toni tells the siblings out that Markus still has a shortcoming, so he lied: He said on vacation that he was junior champion in eighth as a student, but he was not to be seen in the final photo, which was in the school can be seen in a showcase. Markus meets him at the showcase at school and shows him the team line-up for the preliminary runs: Markus was even captain of the team, but was not allowed to compete in the final because a teacher wanted to punish him for a minor offense. At that time, Markus didn't get a second chance, which is why he gave it to Toni when he was spiking his math test. Toni realizes his mistake. He secretly invites Markus to dinner, which he prepares with his siblings. Ferdinand appears at first without being asked, but is thrown out of the house by the children when Markus arrives. There is a reconciliation between Susanne and Markus, who has now passed his entrance exam in front of the family.

Reviews

The film-dienst called The Entrance Examination a "turbulent (television) family comedy about a very likeable protagonist who fights for the favor of a family and has to pass a series of exams." "It ripples as shallow as a brook," wrote the TV Feature film , and criticized that the chemistry between the lovers in the film is not right. Oddsmeter.de noted that the film looked as if one had already seen numerous scenes like this or something similar in other films of the genre. The entrance exam does not have a unique selling point and is a “superficial mixture of slapstick and help in life”.
