Patron saint. A Kluftingerkrimi is a television comedy produced by Bayerischer Rundfunk in 2016. The film is part of the BR's homeland crime series and is another case of Kommissar Kluftinger , the main character in the crime novel series by Volker Klüpfel and Michael Kobr , on which the literary film adaptation is based. Directed by Lars Monday . Herbert Knaup embodies the main character.

action

Almost 30 years ago, as a young police officer, Kluftinger witnessed a robbery in the regional museum. He spontaneously took up the pursuit and was able to catch the perpetrator. But before he knew it, he took his pistol from him and Kluftinger was taken hostage in front of the arriving colleagues. The perpetrator escaped with accomplices and booty. Even when the perpetrator Rösler was later held responsible for the robbery and he was imprisoned, the stolen property remained lost for decades. Now the found monstrance is to be brought back to the Allgäu homeland.

Previously, Chief Inspector Kluftinger had to solve the murder of an old woman who was strangled. During the tour of the old sawmill where the woman lived, the disabled husband reports that his wife is overly curious and that this may have cost her life. Even if he, as he admits, would have liked to strangle his wife himself “many times,” he is physically hardly able to do so. Kluftinger finds the information about a recently rented garage very interesting. Unfortunately, the old man cannot give any information about the tenants or what they have stored in the premises; the investigators would have to look up his wife's files. This turns out to be quite tedious due to the confusion of the folders. In the presidium, Kluftinger is also annoyed by his colleagues and it annoys him that his colleague Maier has been appointed head of the “Monstrance” special commission and not him. In addition, he comes to the conclusion that the relic should be stolen a second time, because the murder of the old woman brings him more and more clues in this direction.

While searching for the ominous tenants of the garage in the old sawmill, Kluftinger finds a suspect, but when he tries to question the man, he is deliberately run over in front of his eyes. Nevertheless, Kluftinger got documents about the planning of the new robbery. In this context, he even goes to Vienna, where the robber at the time is still in prison. A conversation with the now very frail Rösler suggests a religious background to the robbery, because according to Rösler's ideas this relic does not belong behind glass, but in a church. He was therefore convinced that a new robbery could not be prevented. He advises Kluftinger to try a prayer. The inspector takes this to heart and drives with his colleague Maier from Vienna to the chapel, where a copy of the monstrance is placed. There he finds a reference to Rösler's accomplice Albert Mang, who he takes to be the old woman's murderer and the run-over garage tenant. To find this man, Kluftinger had Rösler brought to Germany from Vienna. He also hopes that with the help of Rösler he can prevent the monstrance from being stolen again.

On the great day of the return of the relic, everyone is extremely excited. Kluftinger positions Rösler in a police bus so that he can identify Albert Mang from there. Rösler gives those responsible the good advice to exchange the monstrance for a copy to be on the safe side. They do that and have no idea that they are initiating the theft as planned by Rösler, because this way he can remove the original from the unguarded adjoining room unnoticed. As a general distraction, he has hired a decoy, which the police also fall for. When the officers noticed the dizziness, Rösler also disappeared because he was nowhere near as frail as he pretended to be. In search of him and the relic, Kluftinger comes to Mang's hiding place. The police can arrest the crook there with two other accomplices and also secure the monstrance. Rösler, however, initially disappeared. Kluftinger finds him in the chapel, where he is setting up the real monstrance. During the whole turmoil, he simply exchanged the work of art again and let Kluftinger find the copy.

criticism

Volker Bergmeister from tittelbach.tv said about this film that it was “a refined”, “intelligently knitted” “thief story” and “a local thriller with lots of humor and well-dosed tension, that of the weird characters […] and small, fine side stories lives. ”It also said:“ What Kluftinger's cases have in common is that they have a thieving tension and the way in which the Allgäu inspector convicts the perpetrators and the means by which he then arrests them is unique. ”

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm pointed their thumbs up and said: “Hearty and grotesque - that really makes you happy! Once again, the native of Allgäu is in sluggish, grumpy top form. ”Conclusion:“ Home game for Knaup - good fun and retro! ”
