Volker Bergmeister

Volker Bergmeister (born July 24, 1959 in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm ) is a German journalist and author . He works freelance, mostly as a TV critic.

Life

Volker Bergmeister grew up in Pfaffenhofen and studied communication science, political science and economics at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). He wrote his master's thesis on "Cabaret and satire in public television - using the example of the windshield wiper series". He worked as an editor for Gong Verlag for 30 years . Since 2016 he has been working exclusively as a freelance media journalist and TV critic, writing for specialist magazines such as epd medien , the internet portal tittelbach.tv and daily newspapers (including Donaukurier , Tagesspiegel). He also has permanent columns for the Donau Kurier (“Volke (r) s Voice”) and the magazine “Quer 19”.

Juror activity

From 1991 to 2015 he was a regular member of the nomination commissions and juries for the Grimme Prize . He was often its chairman and for many years also moderated discussion events for the Grimme Institute such as the Marler Tage der Medienkultur (2006/2013), Grimme meets the industry (until 2013) or TV: Tour de Ruhr (2010). From 2007 to 2009 he was a member of the jury for the Hessian TV Prize.

He is currently a permanent member of the nomination committee for the Robert Geisendörfer Prize (media prize of the Evangelical Church), category general programs. At the Emden - Norderney International Film Festival , he has been the jury for the Creative Energy Award since 2014. He also moderates the midnight talk at the festival, holds talks with filmmakers in the cinema and helps to select programs. From 2018 he also works as an examiner for the Voluntary Self-Monitoring Television (FSF).

Others

Volker Bergmeister also worked as a cabaret artist for around 30 years . He played in the Stachelbär ensemble, together with Michael Eberle in the Stachelbär duo Bergmeister / Eberle, appeared on many stages in the republic (including the Münchner Lach- und Schießgesellschaft, Lustspielhaus, Theater Fifty-Fifty , Nürnberger Burgtheater , Mainzer Unterhaus, Bockshorn Würzburg), could be heard on the radio (BR- “Brettlspitzen”) and appeared on television (several times in “Ottis Schlachthof”, Munich, and “Satirefest”, Berlin). He is the cultural sponsor of the city of Pfaffenhofen and plays once a year in a local cabaret production in his hometown. Otherwise his activity as a cabaret artist is suspended. As a book author, he and Erich Scheck dedicated himself to the subject of football: What a day - 366 calendar stories about football .
