The premiere was on August 1, 2017 in the Mathäser-Filmpalast in Munich , the German and Austrian cinema release took place on August 3, 2017. The TV premiere took place on August 6, 2018 on Das Erste and ORF eins .

action

Police officer Franz Eberhofer is called to a farm in Oed where the deeply religious Annemarie Hausladen lives with her widowed father. Annemarie has returned from a pilgrimage to Lourdes and has found her father dead, who apparently was fatally injured when he fell over the cellar stairs.

The odd Paul, who seems to have known Franz's grandma for a long time and is now spreading out at home, has appeared in the Eberhofer's yard. Because Paul can't take anything else, there is only semolina dumpling soup . It is not uncommon for meals to be skipped because Grandma prefers to do something with Paul instead of cooking. Flötzinger also has problems: although he had himself sterilized , his wife became pregnant a third time and blames him.

After a lavish wedding celebration, Franz is woken up by SEK men. Police colleague Barschl was found dead with a knife in his back, which can without doubt be attributed to Franz, as his name is engraved on it. In addition, there is a possible motive that Barschl was Franz's proven archenemy. Elisabeth Mayerhofer from BLKA , called "Thin Lizzy", is now investigating Franz .

While Franz is in the custody discharged after his father has confirmed his alibi, but he continues to apply as a suspect. Together with his friend Rudi Birkenberger, he begins to investigate himself. The two find out that Barschl's widow Ivana used to work illegally as a prostitute in a brothel. This was dug up by the police seven years ago with Barschl's participation, and their pimp was also arrested. Barschl married Ivana a month later. His wish for a daughter remained unfulfilled, but there is still a child's room for a girl in the Barschl's house. Ivana openly admits that she is happy about her husband's death, not least because of his unusual sexual preferences, which she had to satisfy. However, Ivana Barschl has an alibi. When Franz and Rudi watch Ivana hand over 20,000 euros to their former pimp, Grablonski, they suspect a contract killing. However, Ivana claims to have ransomed her pimp with the money; In addition, Grablonski also has a watertight alibi.

Franz is called to the house shop again after Annemarie has attempted suicide. She makes hints that she is to blame for her father's death. Franz learns that she has had an abortion and suspects abuse by her father. When he wants to visit her in the hospital, he sees Ivana from a distance. He suspects that she and Annemarie know each other and that one carried out the murder for the other, so that the instigator could get an alibi. However, it remains unclear how the two met.

Paul is now feeling worse and the family learns that he has end-stage kidney cancer. Grandma now tells that Paul was her childhood friend. He had once come to Niederkaltenkirchen as a refugee, but had left the village when he became pregnant. After all, she married the much older Eberhofer. But it is not he, but Paul Franz's biological grandfather.

Rudi has since found out that Ivana had also had an abortion and made friends with Annemarie in the clinic. Franz and Rudi go to the house shop yard, where they are locked in the cellar by Annemarie and the newly arrived Ivana at gunpoint. The two women also make a confession. Franz and Rudi are finally freed by Thin Lizzy. She, too, had already been on the trail of the two women, but they had been warned by Franz's investigation and were able to go into hiding in time. In this point the film deviates significantly from the book.

Shortly afterwards Paul dies. After his funeral, Franz tries, urged by his grandmother, to propose to Susi. But they are disturbed by Flötzinger's children Ignatz-Fynn and Clara-Jane, who Susi has to supervise for the next three weeks. Meanwhile, Flötzinger tries to save his marriage on a mother-father-baby cure with his wife and youngest daughter Amy-Gertrud.

Reviews

“After two rather redundant episodes of this comedy series based on the thrillers by Rita Falk, director Ed Herzog happily devotes himself to the shortage in part four. The plot does not get bogged down outside, but stays in the village, sometimes it disappears completely behind a lot of alcohol. The jokes are taciturn and pitch black. "

- Doris Kuhn : Süddeutsche Zeitung

“Fourth adaptation of a provincial crime thriller by Rita Falk, in which the congenial main actor confidently unfolds his laconic potential and discovers the comic in the tragic and vice versa. The consistently brilliant cast, the panopticon of bizarre characters and the courageous staging make the film a highlight of the series (...). "
