Mittlere Reife is a drama and a coming-of-age film by director Martin Enlen from 2012, in which five young students have to take extra classes in ethics due to poor performance , in which their previously hidden talents come to light.

action

After initial quarrels with her older colleague, the experienced teacher Karin Scholz, the young trainee teacher Mechtild Bremer has to supervise five previously unsuccessful students during detention at school by order of Rector Seifert .

In the classes in ethics and with Bremer's liberal attitude towards the students, their previously undreamt-of talents come to light. The students don't like each other at the beginning, as each and every one of them seems to have his or her own completely different nature and character.

Due to the new teaching method that Bremer uses, their "protégés" thaw: The resettler's son, who was previously assigned to the red light district, turns out to be a fine guy who helps the women employed there with correspondence with the responsible authorities . The rector's hyperactive son, Tim, seems to be a computer genius. Isabel, the blonde student Isabel, previously dubbed “stupid”, is universally gifted. Even a student classified as an anarchist turns out to be a draftsman with great talent.

Reviews

The lexicon of international films says that the film does not offer any patent remedies, but that the focus is clearly on more student participation, flat hierarchies, new teaching content and new teaching methods.

The TV Spielfilm magazine is of the opinion that the film represents a "call for change" in the education system and at the same time an appeal to the public to listen to the students better. The film is a "strongly acted and important food for thought".

Kino.de certifies that the young actors under Martin Enlen's leadership have outstanding acting achievements.
