Stephan Kampwirth (born March 20, 1967 in Neheim-Hüsten ) is a German theater and film actor .

Kampwirth graduated from the Franz-Stock-Gymnasium in Arnsberg in 1986 and then completed his community service as an ambulance driver in Munich . After training at the Hamburg Drama Studio from 1989 to 1992 under the direction of Hildburg Frese , Kampwirth was a member of the ensemble of the Schillertheater Berlin , the Burgtheater Vienna and the Kammerspiele Munich . He played under the direction of Leander Haußmann , Dieter Dorn , Georg Ringsgwandl and Helmut Griem .

In the early 1990s, his film and television career began with smaller roles in some television series such as Großstadtrevier , Wolffs Revier and the Tatort . He became known to a wider audience with the multi-part television series An Impossible Man and the film adaptation of Amelie Fried's novel The Man from Next Door , in which he played the role of Lukas Lander . In his adopted home of Hamburg , Kampwirth has been a member of the Hamburger Kammerspiele since 2007 . Since 2013 he is Dr. Bode can be seen in the ZDF television series Lerchenberg .

Together with Odine Johne , who embodies Agnes , he plays the role of Walters in the novel by Peter Stamms Agnes . Filming began in autumn 2014 under the direction of Johannes Schmid . The film was released on June 2, 2016. From 2017 to 2020 he played in the Netflix series DARK (seasons 1–3). Kampwirth's son Pablo Striebeck, whose mother is the actress Janna Striebeck , played the younger version of his character in the series.

Kampwirth is a member of the Federal Drama Association (BFFS).
