action

season 1

Dr. Martin Gruber is originally from Ellmau , but lives in New York and works as a doctor. For his mother Lisbeth's 60th birthday, he pays her a surprise visit, but the family cannot be found either at home or anywhere else. Finally he made his way to the cemetery, where he found out that Sonja, his brother Hans’s wife, died in a car accident a few days ago. The family tried to contact him in New York, but he had already left there. Dr. Roman Melchinger, Ellmaus village doctor and mentor to Martin, would like Martin to take over his practice, but Martin is determined to return to America until Roman tells him a secret shortly before his departure, which Sonja confided to Roman shortly before her death : The 11-year-old daughter of Hans and Sonja, Lilli, is actually Martin's daughter. After Martin confesses this news to Hans, a dispute breaks out between the brothers. Lilli realizes that she is Martin's daughter and runs away, injuring herself on the mountain. The brothers' quarrel can be resolved by worrying about Lilli, and after Lilli can only be found slightly injured, Martin and Hans decide to be there for Lilli together and to be a father figure to her. Martin takes over the practice from Roman, who at the last moment did not turn to Dr. Alexander Kahnweiler from Hall, an old friend of Martin's, sold.

A short time later, Julia Denson, Martin's friend who lives and works with him in New York, turns up in Ellmau. She is not yet aware of Martin's plans to turn her back on America and move back to Austria and when she finds out, she rules out staying with him, but they part on friendly terms. Martin soon falls in love with Susanne, the landlady of the Wilder Kaiser in Ellmau and his childhood friend. Susanne is married, but her husband works in Kiel and she hasn't seen him for a long time, which is why she wants to separate from him. He begins a relationship with Susanne and the two meet at Martin's house, but at the end of the season, her husband Jörg suddenly appears. Susanne moves Martin to talk to her husband.

Meanwhile, Lisbeth also finds herself transported back to her youth. Julius, a photographer who travels all over the world and is an old love affair with Lisbeth, appears in Ellmau. After being treated by Martin, he decides to stay in Ellmau for a while, but asks Lisbeth to come with her to Vietnam and to travel around the world with him. Lisbeth decides to turn his back on Julius Ellmau for the time being, but at the last moment doesn't have the heart and has to let Julius go with a heavy heart.

season 2

Martin found out that Jörg is back and wants to restore his marriage to Susanne. Martin feels like the fifth wheel on the car, but suddenly there are more serious problems: The Gruber's barn is on fire and Lilli is in it, together with a friend who ran away from home. The children can be saved, but the barn with all the machines will be destroyed. The insurance company does not want to pay either because the Gruber's account was not covered and the last two insurance premiums could not be deducted. The Gruber family wants to extend their loan, but the new bank director is no friend of the Gruber's. It's Dr. Gerd Ohlmüller, son of Veronika Ohlmüller, who had an affair with Johann Gruber, the late father of Hans and Martin and husband of Lisbeth. Ohlmüller is convinced that Johann drove his own father to suicide back then. He wants to take revenge on the Grubers and sell their farm / foreclosure auction.

In the meantime, Susanne worries about Jörg, because he has disappeared. The relationship between her and Martin is still upright, which Jörg does not miss either, but she feels responsible for Jörg. Jörg has leased a sailing school on the Achensee, with an adjoining restaurant for Susanne, and that's where he retired to go sailing, but he never comes back from this trip. He is found lifeless in the reeds and is taken to the hospital, where he lies seriously ill. Martin brings his ex-fiancée Julia Denson into the case, who is traveling to Austria, which also makes Susanne jealous. After Jörg's recovery, Susanne takes care of him, with great hope that their marriage will continue.

The Gruber's financial situation is worsening. Dr. Ohlmüller still refuses to grant the loan and wants to ruin the Grubers. He wants to receive the full amount of the loan within a week, whereupon Martin tries to get a job in surgery in a Munich hospital to gradually work off the debt. He also asks Susanne to go with him, but her sense of duty towards Jörg prevents her and the two separate. When moving to Munich he would have to give up the doctor's practice in Ellmau, but to prevent Martin from leaving, Roman sells the practice to Dr. Kahnweiler to pay the Gruber's debts. Dr. Ohlmüller made an appointment with Martin to repay the money, but deliberately gave him the day of his vacation and ordered the foreclosure of the Gruberhof. The Grubers are faced with the loss of their farm again, but then Ohlmüller suffers an accident while climbing and is rescued by Martin and Hans, who are involved in mountain rescue. Through this incident, he forgets the grudge against the Grubers and lets their credit continue. Now it's up to Martin to get Roman's home back from Alexander Kahnweiler. He succeeds in persuading Alexander to return the house by promising to help him be promoted to head of surgery.

Something is also happening in Hans' love life: he is freshly in love with the teacher Klara Hoffmann, but the two daughters, Sarah and Lilli, don't get along at all. Martin also meets a new woman, the lawyer Dr. Andrea Junginger, with whom he arranges to paraglide, with the two falling and having to endure the night seriously injured. Despite initial doubts from Andrea, she gets involved with Martin, but at the end of the season she has to find out about Susanne's pregnancy, who has two possible fathers: Jörg or Martin.

season 3

Andrea has withdrawn injured after she learned that Martin is the possible father of Susanne's child, although she had only recently told him about the loss of her own child in the womb, which means she can no longer have children. Lilli is also anything but enthusiastic about a new sibling, just like Jörg, who behaves more and more impossibly towards Susanne, which ultimately leads to Susanne falling and coming to the hospital with early labor. Fortunately, she recovers quickly and is doing well.

In the meantime, Hans clashes with Arthur Distelmeier, who handles pesticides in addition to the Gruber's organic fields, which could cause the Gruber to lose their organic seal. During a clarifying conversation, Arthur falls off a cliff after a seizure and comes to rest on a ledge. After his colleagues from mountain rescue have been informed, Hans ropes down to Arthur on his own, secures him, but Arthur goes crazy and the two are hanging on the rope. Arthur doesn't stop fidgeting and the anchorage begins to loosen, whereupon Hans decides to cut Arthur away from himself. Arthur is rushed to hospital with serious injuries, where he is diagnosed with paraplegia. Meanwhile, Hans is arrested for attempted manslaughter, but with the help of Andrea and Martin, he soon comes out of prison again, as Arthur was diagnosed with nerve damage, which is to blame for his seizures - his paraplegia is not permanent. Because of his unauthorized examinations on Arthur, Martin was now reported and his license as a doctor threatens to be withdrawn, which can be averted with Alexander's help.

The paternity test of Susanne's baby also brought certainty: Jörg is the baby's father, but due to a misunderstanding, Jörg believes that Martin is the father and writes Susanne a letter in which he explains that he will go back to Kiel. Susanne wants to bring him back with Martin, but she has an accident in her car and loses her baby. When Jörg comes to her in the hospital, she blames him for the baby's death and a short time later she separates from him. Susanne's grief knows no bounds after the loss of the baby she had already wished for. She doesn't let Martin, Roman or anyone else get close to her and is all alone in her grief until Andrea seeks a conversation with her and tells her about her own story. Susanne begins to open up to Martin again.

Lilli also has her first boyfriend: Sebastian, the son of a hotel owner. However, the love happiness only lasts for a short time, because Sarah, Klara's daughter, relaxes Lilli's boyfriend and the two girls, who have gotten better and better lately, fall out again. Lisbeth brings home an admirer from a wellness weekend that was given to her by her family for her birthday: the restaurant critic Klaus Hellmann, but this love also lasts only for a short time, as Lisbeth is disappointed by Klaus' machinations. Meanwhile, Hans holds on to Klara's hand, but she refuses on the grounds that they do not need a marriage certificate for their love for one another. Hans is injured and the two argue.

Little Jonas Ellert now loses both parents in a mountain accident and Martin takes the boy, who has not spoken since then, to the Gruberhof to keep him from the home for the time being because his last living relative, his uncle, does not want to take him in. Martin is able to convince Susanne to take the boy with her because after a short time he starts talking to her again and she reminds him of his mother.

Meanwhile, Andrea receives an offer from Vienna and has to go to the capital for a few weeks on business. Julia Denson, Martin's ex-fiancée, comes from the USA to perform an operation in Hall, but becomes seriously ill herself and almost loses her life if it had not been for Martin. The two sleep together before Julia travels back to America and Martin decides not to tell Andrea about it for the time being. He's got a bad conscience, but he doesn't want to lose her either. Finally Andrea finds a text message from Julia on Martin's cell phone and breaks up with him. After long arguments, Hans and Klara finally decided to get married and Martin also wants to use his last chance and propose to Andrea. At the last second he shows up in Vienna before Andrea hands over the contract for her employment and makes her an application. She says yes, but is hit by a car while crossing the street.

Season 4

The doctor's parental home called "Gruberhof"

Andrea is transferred to Hall after her accident in Vienna and has been in a coma for two days. The wedding of Hans and Klara was canceled after the news and Martin is very worried about his fiancée, but throws himself into work to distract himself. Finally Andrea wakes up for a short time and complains of a severe headache. A bleeding in the brain has to be operated on, but shortly afterwards it is on the mend. Martin takes her to her home and the two agree to get married the next day. Meanwhile, Martin treats newborn twins, who both need a new liver within 24 hours, the parents are out of the question as donors. Meanwhile Andrea collapses at home and another cerebral hemorrhage is diagnosed, but she would most likely not survive the rescue operation, if only as a nursing case. Andrea secretly allows herself to be tested as a donor for the twins, finally "sacrifices" herself when she learns that she is a possible donor and dies of her bleeding.

Meanwhile, Hans and Klara argue about the presence of Klara's ex-husband Peter. Sarah, Klara's daughter, wants to do a year abroad in Rome by visiting her father in Rome, after which Klara accompanies her for the first two weeks. Martin is devastated and angry after Andreas' death. At first he doesn't let anyone get close to him, but the situation improves a bit after a conversation with Lisbeth, who confides in him that she felt the same way after the death of Martin's father. Susanne also seems to want to get closer to Martin again, also because Jonas sees him as a father figure, which Martin does not notice / reply to. The gynecologist Dr. Lena Imhoff seems to be interested in Martin and Lilli also has an admirer, but through whom she feels stalked and whom she finally hits a black eye.

During a rescue operation, Hans crashes and breaks his leg several times. Alexander can only save his leg with great difficulty, but assumes that Hans will never be able to walk properly again. Despite initial optimism, Hans soon no longer sees any point in rehab and gives up on himself and his leg, especially because Klara decides to stay with Sarah in Rome - Hans has not told her about the accident. Because of Hans' incapacity to work, the farm's financially worse condition and Hans considers selling it to Arthur Distelmeier. Martin starts a no-obligation affair with the gynecologist Lena, who, however, hides from him that she has a husband who is seriously ill in bed at home. Hans decides, against the family's wishes, to sell the farm. On the way to the notary, however, he runs into little Jonas, who falls into a coma. Hans makes serious accusations, but Jonas fights and wakes up again, which moves Hans to fight himself and let the deal with Distelmeier break.

Meanwhile Martin finds out that Lena is married, and Lena's husband also finds out that Lena and Martin are having an affair. He goes to Martin to ask him to enroll him in an American study that offers a chance of a cure for his illness. At the same time he declares war on him that he will win Lena back when he is healthy again. Lena is now against the study because it is far too risky - but Martin Lena's husband Tom registers for the study at his request.

Lisbeth has moved out of home in the meantime and lives with Susanne - the reason for this is the dispute with Hans about the sale of the Gruberhof. Lisbeth is disappointed and hurt that Hans made this decision without her and although the sale did not take place, Lisbeth stays with Susanne for the time being and helps her out in the Wilder Kaiser, where she also gets a job offer from a restaurant owner where she runs a restaurant could lead.

Lilli is in love and has her first real boyfriend - Mario. Because of him, she always comes home late, which makes the relationship between the fathers and their daughter difficult. Hans also caught her with a joint, which she only got pressed into her hand. Lilli wants to spend a night with Mario, but their fathers forbid them - in the evening she has disappeared and the two suspect her to be with Mario, although they make a mistake when they appear there. Mario separates from Lilli, but Martin and Hans can straighten it out again.

Meanwhile, Hans falls in love with Susanne, who secretly reciprocates these feelings. In theory, Hans is still engaged to Klara, who, however, lives in Rome and a return is not in sight. Susanne thinks that Hans is not over Klara yet and buries her hope, but Hans confesses to her that he is very fond of her and kisses her.

Lisbeth declines the offer to work for a restaurant owner because she realizes how much her family needs her and returns to the Gruberhof. Tom is also doing better, the medication seems to be working - but suddenly his fever rises extremely quickly and he has to be reanimated, although it is not certain whether he will survive the night.

Season 5

Tom survived the night and Martin and Lena find out that a second illness also causes his poor condition. You can treat him properly and he will recover completely. He hopes to start her new life with Lena again, and Lena doesn't want to take this hope away from him after this difficult time, although she wants to be with Martin.

Hans is now enjoying his relationship with Susanne, who asks him to finally inform Klara about the status of their relationship. After a long struggle, Hans finally wrote her a letter, but it did not reach Klara in Rome, as she showed up in Ellmau the next day and assumed that her relationship with Hans had not changed. Hans promises to talk to Susanne with Klara, but since she has given up Rome for him and is moving back to Ellmau, he is unable to tell Klara about it. So both women think they have Hans to themselves, but when Sarah Klara forwarded the letter from Rome to Ellmau, Klara confronts Hans exactly at the moment when Hans wants to tell Susanne about his "little" lie.

Lilli now prefers to be out and about with Mario than to go to school - due to many missing lessons in math and physics, she is at great risk of staying seated and needs tutoring. Mario is disappointed in Lilli because she even lied to him because he thought the teacher had been ill for a long time - but in the end she learns the missed material with him. She's also one step closer to growing up, meanwhile. She confides in Martin because she and Mario want to sleep together. Martin advises her not to allow herself to be put under pressure and to use contraception - however, when Mario gets a romantic surprise, Lilli backs down because she doesn't feel ready for her first time. Mario then ignores Lilli, which causes Lisbeth to give Mario her opinion and pull out his ears. After several dates, during which Lilli finally decided to sleep with Mario, he doesn't want to know anything about it. He fears that he will not be able to fulfill Lilli's wish for the perfect first time, as he knows that the first time is far from perfect.

Lena has since separated from her husband and has a relationship with Martin. However, when she fell ill and had heart problems for which no medical reason whatsoever, Martin believed in the "Broken Heart" syndrome and separated from Lena because he believed the breakup with Tom broke her heart.

Susanne broke up with Hans when she found out that he had still not broken off his engagement to Klara. Klara tries to win Hans over again, which she almost succeeds when Susanne continues to give Hans the cold shoulder. Finally, Hans listens to his heart and explains to Klara that he lost his love for her when she stayed in Rome and left him in Ellmau. Susanne and Hans get together again afterwards.

The relationship between Lilli and Mario is also turbulent and Lilli separates from him because he never wants to have children, but she wants a big family one day. Martin encourages her that it is far too early for such conversations and that Mario can change his mind over time, whereupon the two reconcile.

The separation from Lena is hard on Martin, but Lena is also deeply sad and seeks contact with Martin, who sees no future in their relationship. Martin receives an offer from New York to work as a consultant and decides to go to New York for at least half a year, but decides differently at the last minute and stays in Ellmau. Lena, on the other hand, moves to the Styrian capital after a job offer from Graz and lives there with her husband, but after an emergency he and she are flown to the Hall hospital, where Tom suddenly dies in the helicopter - Lena subsequently decides to stay in Hall to stay.

Hans and Susanne are now very happy with each other, but the time for two is too short, because Jonas, because of the joy of having a real family again, is constantly attached to them and even wants to sleep with them at night. After a not long time, Susanne even became pregnant by Hans, although she was prophesied after the loss of her child in her first pregnancy that she would probably no longer have any more children. After Hans had initial worries about whether a child would fit into their life, they finally look forward to becoming a happy family, but little Jonas learns from eavesdropping that Susanne is pregnant. He runs away during a day's hiking at school and hides in the mountains, fearing that Susanne would no longer love him if she had a child of her own. The boy is found safe and sound and after all misunderstandings have been cleared up, Jonas is even looking forward to his sibling. However, happiness does not last long, because after abnormalities during a routine examination, the child is diagnosed with Freeman-Sheldon syndrome and Lena urgently advises the parents-to-be to abort, as otherwise Susanne's life would be endangered. Thanks to Martin's commitment, however, this abortion can be prevented at the last second, as Susanne's examination of the child wrongly removed and examined tissue that contains a harmless type of gene.

Season 6

While Lena is moving to Frankfurt, Martin Gruber meets Anne Meierling, who has returned to Ellmau after years from France, and the two fall head over heels in love. But Anne is the daughter of the Gruber's arch rival, Arthur Distelmeier, who particularly doesn't like Martin and therefore forbids his daughter to have contact with Martin.

When Anne discovered an ancient bond between the Grubers and the Distelmeiers, Distelmeier gave the Grubers a choice: Either they pay back the sum due 30 years ago with all interest immediately or two fields go to Distelmeier, who is currently fighting for his existence. The Grubers and Distelmeier come to an agreement, but when he learns of the relationship between Martin and Anne, he lets the contract break.

Martin's intervention ultimately succeeds in negotiating a new lease, but this includes the condition that Martin keep his hands off Anne. Anne is stunned when Martin is dismissive. Finally Lisbeth washes Arthur's head and Anne and Martin find each other happily.

Susanne and Hans become parents of little Sophia, but the question of whether they should move in together and an offer to sell the “Wilder Kaiser” inn stand between them. In the end, Susanne prevails, she can keep her inn and will continue to live there.

Meanwhile, Lili falls in love with the singer Carsten and separates from Mario.

Dr. Kahnweiler and Dr. Vera Fendrich, the chief doctor's daughter, approach and begin a relationship.

Season 7

After the argument between the Grubers and Arthur is over, Martin wants to start a future together with Arthur's daughter Anne, but when she returns from a trip, Martin and Arthur meet and get into a tangible argument. Anne has enough and she moves to the Gruberhof. After Hans moved out, there was a free room there, but this led to repeated arguments.

Hans 'relationship with Susanne is getting more and more troubled and in the end Hans meets with Jonas' new teacher. When Susanne finds out about this, she separates from him and puts him in front of the door.

Arthur Distelmeier became addicted to alcohol after his daughter moved out and had to go to a rehab clinic. But since he can no longer run the farm himself, he finally gives it to Anne. Martin is anything but happy about this, knowing that Arthur will now always stand between Anne and him, and separates from her.

Season 8

Martin falls into a deep crisis of meaning after losing a 16-year-old girl to a risky intervention during an avalanche rescue. Although this procedure should only have been carried out with the aid of ultrasound, after a diagnosed pericardial tamponade it punctures directly on the mountain, but hits the girl's heart. This then suffers a cardiac arrest and can no longer be saved despite immediate attempts at resuscitation. Martin begins to doubt himself, quits the mountain rescue service and hastily leaves Ellmau. Plagued by nightmares and feelings of guilt, he retreats to a lonely mountain village. There he initially pretends to be a geologist, but a little later he meets a little boy there with symptoms of paralysis and, after an initial refusal, manages to treat the boy. Although he had even planned to give up his practice, he is returning to Ellmau. There he humbly seeks out the dead girl's father. The season ends with the death of Arthur Distelmeier in a fire on his farm caused by a cigarette.

Season 9

Season 10

Anne wants to work at the Gruberhof, which Martin refuses. They get into an argument, Martin's love life remains difficult. Martin is found injured and then throws himself into work. He lives again at the Gruberhof. Susanne receives an offer from Vienna. Lisbeth is looking for a wife for Hans via a dating site. Martin transfers Anne.

Season 11

Lisa injured herself on a mountain tour. On the way to the clinic, she and Martin are hit by an avalanche. Lilli begins training with Martin. After many years, Uncle Ludwig Gruber appears, who had a relationship with Lisbeth, the mother of Martin and Hans Gruber and who was indirectly responsible for the death of his brother. Hans gives Ludwig work on the farm, Martin takes care of Ludwig's ailing health. Vera learns by chance that Jens-Torben could be Alexander's son. Ludwig is supposed to move to Vienna for a medical study. Ludwig buys Lilli a car with which the two suffer a car accident.

Season 12

A ski tour with Martin's friends ends in an avalanche. Ludwig demands his inheritance at the Gruberhof. The Grubers lose an important major customer and get an offer to sell on the farm. Lisbeth and Ludwig catches up with memories of their previous relationship. Martin has an affair with the pharmacist Franziska. Hans wants to sell the Gruberhof and move in with Susanne. Anne moves into the apartment above the Bergdoktor practice. Martin and Lilli take care of their home. Lisbeth wants to travel with her brother-in-law Ludwig, but the relationship fails. The family is about to end because of the sale of the farm planned by Hans. But then a solution opens up because Anne leases the Gruberhof with the consent of all family members.

Season 13

Martin stands between Franziska and Anne. Although both his and Anne planned to deal with each other purely on business and as friends in the future, it quickly becomes clear that it is not that easy for either of them. Nevertheless, Martin is loyal to Franziska at the beginning. She also needs him more than ever since her father is seriously ill and soon dies of the disease. During this time she supports Martin and also accompanies her to the funeral in Munich. There he realizes that Franziska's family is more than just wealthy.

Meanwhile, with Lisbeth's help, Anne takes care of making Gruber milk a success. She works more and more closely with the farmer Gregor Schachner. He brings in good ideas and makes her lucrative offers, both for the purchase of raw milk and for the expansion of capacities. The Grubers support Anne in this, but everyone still has residual doubts as to whether Gregor's intentions are thoroughly honest. In the further course Anne and Gregor also get closer privately, but later describes a night together as a slip and makes it clear to Gregor that she only wants business contact.

Martin increasingly feels that his feelings for Franziska are not strong enough. He ultimately rejects her offers, which would help him professionally, and her suggestion to go to New York together, where Martin could work for a health organization.

Hans has now completely withdrawn from the Gruberhof and moved in with Susanne. He enjoys family life and being a father. It does not escape Susanne that he is becoming increasingly dissatisfied. His temporary job at the inn doesn't fill him up. He therefore accepts the offer to lead hiking groups as a mountain guide, but that too does not give him satisfaction. It becomes clear that Hans would like to be there right now, when Gruber milk is promising to be a success.

Lilli sees it as her job to bring Martin and Anne back together. She reproaches her father, sometimes violently, for not following his heart and not fighting for his true love. In fact, Martin eventually parted ways with Franziska. Soon he also tells Anne about the breakup and openly says that he longs for a new start with her. The two get together again, Martin also promises that he will stay out of their business interests in the future.

Anne's collaboration with Gregor is successful. He is now trying to further secure the professional relationship by contract and proposes to conclude a partnership agreement. He demands that the shares in Gruber-Milch go equally to Anne, Hans and him. Anne and Hans ultimately agree with this idea. He doesn't like that Anne is happy with Martin. Opposite Martin he lets himself be carried away to teasing men. Shortly before the signing of the contract, Gregor changes a passage: Hans should keep his share, but no longer have active voting rights. Anne can even understand this step, because Gregor doesn't want to be permanently outvoted if he brings so much himself. Hans also wants to support Anne on her way, but everyone remains skeptical whether Gregor can be fully trusted. Martin therefore decides to talk to Franziska behind Anne's back and asks her to have the contract checked by her lawyer. He confirms that the contract is legally sound, but points out that Gregor could put Anne under long-term pressure so that she transfers Hans' shares - and the associated voting rights - to him. With that the Gruber milk would be under his control. To Martin's surprise, Anne is not angry about his action, on the contrary: she says that a relationship with him also means that he interferes in her life with concern.

When Anne then refuses to sign, Gregor shows his true colors. He blocks her access to the bottling plant by claiming that it is broken and that his people don't have time to repair it, and threatens to destroy her economically if she doesn't sign the contract. Because despite the already existing contract for bottling the milk, all attempts to save the Gruber milk fail quickly, Martin decides to take a second, hidden step and seeks Franziska again. He asks her to intervene in business purely out of friendship. Franziska actually visits Gregor and makes him a surprising offer. Her holding is supposed to take over the bottling plant for a more than generous price, while Gregor should stay away from Anne in the future. If he rejects the offer, she threatens him with an avalanche of litigation. Gregor remains perplexed.

The Gruber milk is saved. Nevertheless, there is a heated argument in the family council, Anne is very disappointed with Martin's action. Lilli sees the relationship now before the end. At that moment, Martin Anne proposes marriage, which Anne finally accepts.
