Sophia Thomalla (born October 6, 1989 in East Berlin ) is a German actress , presenter and model .

Life

Sophia Thomalla is the daughter of actors Simone Thomalla and André Vetters . She grew up in Berlin until she was seven and then moved to Cologne with her mother . After completing the fourth year of school, she and her mother moved to Kleinmachnow , a suburb of Berlin, then after a year to Gelsenkirchen , where she lived after her mother separated from Rudi Assauer . Like her mother, Thomalla played kickboxing as a recreational sport . In her youth she fought some amateur fights.

In autumn 2009 she moved back to Berlin for professional reasons, and in October 2010 she moved to the Dutch Quarter in Potsdam . Thomalla was in a relationship with the Rammstein singer Till Lindemann from April 2011 to November 2015 . On March 11, 2016, she married the Norwegian singer Andy LaPlegua in Marietta , Georgia . In May 2017, she announced the divorce from LaPlegua. In 2017 she was in a relationship with the British musician Gavin Rossdale . Since January 2019 she has been in a relationship with the German soccer player Loris Karius .

In August 2017, she announced in an interview with Stern that she has been a member of the CDU for five years .

Career

From 2007 to 2009 she attended the Constantin School for Drama, Dance and Singing in Bochum . In 2006 she received her first television role as the daughter of Barbara Rudnik and Henry Hübchen in the ARD crime series Commissario Laurenti through her friend, the television director Sigi Rothemund .

In 2009 she applied for an open casting for the top model casting show Germany's Next Top Model ; she was eliminated in the first round. In 2009 and 2010 she was featured as Chris Putzer in the Sat.1 -Daily Soap Eine wie kein . She was a candidate for Let's Dance and won the title of Dancing Star 2010 together with her dance partner Massimo Sinató . In 2011 she was a member of the ProSieben jury for the casting show Das PokerStars.de Ass alongside Sandra Naujoks and Thomas Lamatsch . In 2012 she worked in the ensemble of the comedy series Die Dreisten Drei - now even more brazen on Sat.1 alongside Oliver Beerhenke and Mirco Nontschew .

In 2010 she was voted third in the list of FHM Sexiest Women . Like her mother, Sophia Thomalla was also photographed for the German edition of Playboy . The pictures were published in May 2012. They took first place in the online poll for the most beautiful title star of the last 25 years.

In 2014 she promoted the cosmetic product line of the discounter Lidl and the following year for its fashion brand. She took over the side moderation at the Wok World Cup broadcast on ProSieben in March and at the TV total Stock Car Crash Challenge in October 2015. On January 30, 2015, she hosted the 10th Semper Opera Ball in Dresden alongside Gunther Emmerlich . On March 2, 2015, she appeared on the talk show Hart but fair , which dealt with the topic of gender equality . When the WDR temporarily deleted the recording from the media library , Thomalla speculated about the possible influence of women's associations on public broadcasting. She had been heavily criticized for her appearance on the show. On September 8, 2015, the issue of equality was discussed again at Hart but fair with the same cast, supplemented by two more guests.

Also in 2016, Sophia Thomalla sat next to DJ BoBo and Cale Kalay on the jury of the RTL dance show Dance Dance Dance . From autumn she was on the jury of the tattoo show Pain & Fame on Sixx , which was looking for the best tattoo artists in Germany. In September 2016 she brought out a shoe collection.

In December 2017, there was criticism about an advertising photo for a gambling provider. Thomalla was seen tied to a cross, barely dressed. The President of the Central Committee of German Catholics and the Cultural Commissioner of the Evangelical Church criticized the motif heavily. On the Maischberger talk show , Sophia Thomalla said about the #MeToo campaign : "I think the campaign is an insult to the real rape victims". These and other statements about the #MeToo campaign sparked criticism.

From September 2018 she hosted the car racing show Devils Race on DMAX .

Since November 2019, Sophia Thomalla has been a partner and brand ambassador of a digital start-up that organizes the distribution of gravel, gravel and sand via app.

In an episode of the television program Das Duell um die Welt broadcast in November 2019 , Thomalla is part of a production that has not been identified as such ( scripted reality ).
