Henry Pretty
Henry Hübchen (born February 20, 1947 in Berlin-Charlottenburg ) is a German actor . He was one of the most prominent character actors in the GDR . In reunified Germany , he was best known for his collaboration with the theater director Frank Castorf at the Volksbühne in Berlin and in his role as the former GDR sports reporter Jaecki Zucker in Alles auf Zucker! .
Life
First roles and training
Henry Hübchen was born as the son of a designer and an accountant in the Berlin district of Charlottenburg . In 1949 the family moved to East Berlin . Hübchen gained his first acting experience in his youth. Among other things, he played a small supporting role in the first DEFA Indian film The Sons of the Big Bear (1965). After graduation, he began at the Humboldt University of Berlin , a physics degree , which he broke off after one year. In 1970 he completed acting training at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in East Berlin, which he graduated with a diploma a year later.

He made his stage debut at the Theater Magdeburg before coming to the Volksbühne Berlin in 1974 through the artistic director and director Benno Besson , where he was part of the ensemble until 2002. Movie and TV
After Hübchen worked in various cinema and television productions as a child and adolescent, he began to work increasingly in front of the camera from the 1970s onwards, parallel to his stage appearances. From 1972 he was repeatedly seen as an episode actor in the crime film series Polizeiruf 110 , until 1988 he made seven guest appearances. Hübchen took on a first major role in the role of the young Jew Mischa in Frank Beyer's Jakob the Liar (1974), which was nominated for an Oscar . He played another leading role in Erwin Stranka's youth film Die Moral der Banditen (1975), which is loosely based on the novel of the same name by Horst Bastian .

From 2006 to 2009 Hübchen appeared in five films in the ARD crime series Commissario Laurenti , which were based on the crime novels by Veit Heinichen , in the role of Commissario Proteo Laurenti.
