Leslie Antonia Malton (born November 15, 1958 in Washington, DC ) is an American - German actress . She is the chair of the Federal Drama Association (BFFS).

Life

Leslie Malton is the daughter of a US diplomat and an Austrian. She lived in the USA for only five years. She spent her school and youth in Vienna. Already at the age of 14 she had the desire to become an actress.

Malton began her career in the theater. From 1985 she was a member of the Vienna Burgtheater for many years , where she first appeared as Ophelia in William Shakespeare's Hamlet (title role Klaus Maria Brandauer ; directed by Hans Hollmann ). Later she was often seen in productions by George Tabori .

Malton played and plays in numerous German television films and series and also works as a speaker for radio plays.

For her first international cinema production, she was hired by the Japanese director Masato Harada for the racing driver film Races in 1984 . In this Japanese-German co-production she played the leading female role alongside Hiroyuki Watanabe, Claus Theo Gärtner , Deborah Sasson , Stuart Wolfe , Dean Reed and Patrick Stewart .

In 1990 she received the Golden Camera Young Talent Award for her three leading roles in Perfume for a Suicide , The Copper Trap and Dangerous Seduction (Il piccolo popolo) . Her breakthrough for the German audience came in 1992 with her role as Gudrun Lange in the ZDF four-parter Der große Bellheim , for which she was awarded the Bavarian TV Prize and the Telestar in 1993. In this mini-series by Dieter Wedel she played alongside Mario Adorf , Will Quadflieg , Renan Demirkan , Heinz Hoenig , Ingrid Steeger and Dominique Horwitz . Since then she has been one of the most sought-after TV actresses in Germany.

Leslie Malton has been married to the actor Felix von Manteuffel since 1995 and lives in Berlin.

Since 2019 she has both American and German citizenship.

Leslie Malton volunteered to support the German Winterreise project by the author Stefan Weiller as a spokesperson. Since 2009, the project has been drawing attention to the situation of the homeless in particular in a song and text cycle at charity events, in a song and text cycle, in cooperation with institutions such as the Diakonisches Werk.

Since 2013 she has been an ambassador for children with Rett Syndrome in Germany, which her younger sister also has.
