action

Maik and Momme are illegally nesting on a roof terrace in Berlin-Mitte . The apartment belongs to the rich dentist Dr. Alfred 'Freddy' Katelbach, who usually treats prominent patients and is currently traveling. Maik, who hunts celebrities as a professional paparazzo , got the keys to the apartment through an informant for a fee. Momme had reached the terrace through the roof.

Both photographers want an exclusive look at Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt - called Brangelina - who are rumored to be moving into an apartment nearby. Maik wants to sell his photos for a lot of money, while Momme just wants to upload the photos to the homepage of his Angelina Jolie fan club. The photographers stay in the apartment for five days and get to know different women: a GEZ investigator, the owner of a model agency, a pizza delivery boy who is a kick-boxing master, an opaque mature grande dame and two sisters from East Berlin.

Finally Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt appear in their apartment, but the matter had got around and besides Maik and Momme other paparazzi take photos of the couple. Maik decides to skip another job to visit the older of the two sisters in Berlin, while Momme has fallen in love with the younger sister.

background

The film was shown for the first time in October 2008 at the 42nd Hof International Film Festival and was released in German cinemas on January 8, 2009.

Reviews

“In 2007 the rumor circulated in Berlin that Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt wanted to settle in the capital. The idea of making a satire about the usual, absurd celebrity circus has something to offer. But the implementation by Hans-Christoph Blumenberg is at best on TV level and babbles over long stretches of no consequence. A big plus: the two main actors Florian Lukas and Kostja Ullmann, who keep the audience at least halfway with the story. "

"Improvised comedy as a quick finger exercise that relies on spontaneity, situational comedy and the art of dialogue and appeals as lively media satire."

Trivia

The film is divided into several sections, each lasting a day. Each day begins with a quote from a famous person relating to the city of Berlin or its residents.
