Klaus Peter Weber
Klaus Peter Weber (also: "Ka-Pe" Weber; * 1941 in Berlin , Germany ) is a German cameraman . He has lived in Saarland since 1945 .
Life and work
Klaus Peter Weber is a trained telecommunications technician . But from a young age, his passion was film and especially working with the camera. He said in an interview: “Even as a child, it was clear after my first visit to the cinema that I would find my dream job in this profession. I worked as a projectionist to finance my first eight-millimeter film camera . "
After working as a video assistant and from 1966 as a camera assistant , from 1972 Klaus Peter Weber made over 150 documentaries and contributions as a cameraman for Saarland Radio for over two decades . "Using small equipment to penetrate the protagonists' intimate sphere quickly and nevertheless sensitively" was, according to him, a good exercise for later scenic work. In 1985 I started working as a cinema cameraman.
Klaus Peter Weber worked twice with Rainer Werner Fassbinder in 1972/1973 . He has a long, successful collaboration with the Tatort director Hans-Christoph Blumenberg , with whom he also shot Planet of the Cannibals , whose camera work impressed with its effective film noir mood. For years Weber was the cameraman of the crime scenes with Commissioner Max Palu of the Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR). In 1999 he directed the crime scene of penalty . Together with the Luxembourg director Andy Bausch , he laid the foundation for another long and successful collaboration with the Luxembourg box office hit Troublemaker (1988). Their joint filmmaking helped shape the then young Luxembourg filmmaking. In 2004 Weber was awarded the Knightly Order of the Grand Duchy for his services and can now call himself “Chevalier du l'ordre du Mérite”.
In addition to the long collaboration with the directors mentioned above, Weber also worked with the filmmakers and authors Richard Blank , Frank Strecker , Hans Emmerling , Wolfgang Limmer , Wolf Donner , István Bury , Norbert Beilharz , Jörg Bundschuh , Evelyn Schels , Michael Mrakitsch , Georg Stefan Troller , Peter Brugger, Stefan Fischer .
Weber has been teaching professional camera work and light dramaturgy at the “Digital Media” faculty at Furtwangen University since 2007 .
