Evelyn Schels (* 1955 in Munich ) is a German screenwriter and director .

life and work

Schels studied 1975-1982 German , Romance Languages and Art History at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (state exam) and and was in Paris in 1987 in Munich in comparative literature with the thesis The tradition of lyrical drama from Musset to Hofmannsthal to Dr. phil. PhD . Since then she has worked as a director and screenwriter for documentaries and television series a . a. works for ARD and arte and teaches part-time as a lecturer at the University of Television and Film Munich . Her films have been shown at festivals in Milan, Paris, Berlin ( Berliner Festwochen ), Montreal and Munich ( International Documentary Film Festival Munich ).

Her films also include the BR / ARTE series “Weltbürger und Grenzgänger”, in which she introduced contemporary personalities such as Hans-Olaf Henkel , Wolfram Siebeck , Georges-Arthur Goldschmidt and Werner Spies , as well as the series of full-length documentaries “With the eyes of women “With stations in Portuguese, Hungarian and Turkish families. Schels lives in Munich and Paris.
