Konstanze Vernon (born January 2, 1939 in Berlin ; † January 21, 2013 in Munich ) was a German dancer , choreographer and professor .

Life

Vernon was the daughter of the musicologist Friedrich Herzfeld and his wife Theresia, b. Eckstein, an opera and concert singer. She became a student of Tatiana Gsovsky at the age of six . At the age of 14 she was a member of the Berlin Ballet and at 17 its youngest soloist. Heinz Rosen, ballet director at the Bavarian State Opera, signed her into his ensemble in 1963, where she was prima ballerina at the Bavarian State Opera from 1963 to 1981 .

In particular with her partner Winfried Krisch and his successor Heinz Bosl she celebrated great success there. Heinz Bosl's early death at the age of only 28 (1975) prompted her to set up the Heinz Bosl Foundation in 1978 . Her activities in Munich enabled the ballet to be emancipated from the Bavarian State Opera in 1989/90 to become an independent ballet company (today's Bavarian State Ballet ), of which she was the founding director from 1990 to 1998.

In 2010 she gave up the management of the Ballet Academy University of Music and Theater in Munich and founded the Bavarian State Ballet II (Junior Company) under the Heinz Bosl Foundation, which is intended to serve as a springboard for young dancers as a bridge between teaching and stage careers.
