A surefire trap is the 320th television film in the crime series Tatort and the 13th Tatort produced by Saarländischer Rundfunk . The first broadcast took place on October 15, 1995. It is the seventh case with Commissioner Palu as an investigator. Palu is dealing with the break-in and hostage-taking of a former employee in an arms factory and the involvement of management in illegal arms deals.

action

Vincent, a former employee of the factory owner Bruno Dupeyron, has a relationship with his wife Karla, who inherited the company from her father. Out of love for her, he breaks into the company of his former boss in order to prove his illegal arms deals and then to be free with his lover. Meanwhile, Palu's daughter Lena meets her boyfriend Markus, the security guard of the company, to part with him. Since this requires a clarifying discussion, she stays in the company while Markus does his inspection. Lena has to watch on a surveillance screen as her friend is attacked and gunned down by the masked Vincent, she informs Palu, who rushes to the company with colleagues. Vincent copies the relevant data and wants to flee while Palu and a patrol car arrive outside, but the helicopter pilot who is supposed to pick him up leaves Vincent in the lurch. Markus, who was only struck down by Vincent with a stun gun, wakes up and is able to tear the mask off his former colleague Vincent's head, who tells Markus that Bruno Dupeyron has more to lose than he does. Dupeyron and his head of security Patrick Kreutzer, who have also rushed to the company, discover that the intruder must have changed the security code because they no longer have access to the building. Vincent meanwhile forces Markus to go with him to the control room, where he meets Lena. Palu, who can only just find out from Lena that Markus is alive, hides this from his superiors, so that he is not withdrawn from the case as the homicide detective.

Vincent explains meanwhile to Markus that Dupeyron has stolen his research results, since he sees the officers on the monitors and Dupeyron in front of the door, he takes Markus and Lena hostage. Dupeyron and Kreutzer suspect that Vincent is the burglar, since only he can have switched off the security system, they realize that the police are not allowed to find the data on the arms deals. While Vincent tries to organize his helicopter after all, Palu is withdrawn from the case and his assistant Schröder is entrusted with the same. When Vincent sees that Karla has meanwhile also arrived at the company, he begins to distrust her, Lena offers him her help, she tells him that Palu is her father and establishes a conversation between the two of them, they arrange a conversation . While Palu goes into the building, the police chief lets snipers take a stand, Vincent rejects Palu's offer to exchange Lenas and Markus against him. While the two agree that Vincent can move alone, Karla calls Vincent and claims that the police are setting up a trap for him and will shoot him, then Vincent demands Karla be held hostage for his escape. While Karla agrees, Markus attacks Vincent and strangles him, Vincent has to shoot Markus in self-defense. Shortly thereafter, the exchange takes place, Lena informs her father about Markus' death and Vincent's identity, meanwhile Karla asks Vincent to give up, he had gone too far, although it was she who had forced the gun on Vincent for the break-in. Vincent feels betrayed by Karla and refuses to give her the copied data. Karla tells him that she has come to terms with her husband and that he has no other choice. She would leave the factory with him as his hostage if he gave her the data.

Meanwhile, Bruno persuades Palu to let him go into the building, whose security code Kreutzer had cracked, and to be allowed to talk to Vincent, after five minutes the police are supposed to come and overwhelm Vincent if he doesn't give up. Bruno goes in and tells Vincent that Karla wants to lure him into a trap, Vincent should give him the copies and shoot Karla, then he would bring him out. Karla implores Vincent to kill Bruno, she will transfer half of her fortune to him, while Vincent points his gun at him, pulls the trigger from Karla with Vincent's finger and kills Bruno. Vincent flees, shortly afterwards Palu and his colleagues arrive, Karla claims that Vincent killed Bruno. When Vincent is caught by the overwhelming force of his pursuers, he shoots around and is shot down, to Karla's relief he dies before he can explain the background to Palu, although he can still give Palu the disks. Palu, who suspects that Karla has pulled the strings, convicts her with a smoke trace test of her hands.
