Philippe Volter

Philippe Volter (born March 23, 1959 in Brussels , † April 13, 2005 in Paris ) was a Belgian actor.

Life

Philippe Volter was born in 1959 in the Brussels municipality of Ukkel as the son of the theater actor and director Claude Volter (1933–2002) and the actress Jacqueline Bir (* 1934). Volter had a brother.

Philippe Volter made his first appearance in the theater at the age of four. He first appeared in front of the camera in 1985, and later he often took on theater roles.

Volter worked mainly with French-speaking - mostly Belgian or French - directors. In 1991 and 1993 he worked in films by the Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski -  The Two Lives of Veronica and Three Colors: Blue . In 1995 he made a minor guest appearance on the television series Tatort ( A surefire trap ). In the second half of the 1990s, Volter played increasingly in TV films, but without giving up feature film roles.

In November 2003, Volter's father, Claude Volter, who had founded the Comédie Claude Volter theater with his wife in Brussels , died. In January 2003, Philippe Volter was appointed directeur artistique des theater to succeed his father . In 2004 he resigned from the position, which was then taken over by Michel de Warzée.

Volter committed suicide on April 13, 2005.
