action

Palu is feverishly preparing for a cooking competition. Meanwhile, a dispute breaks out in front of a high-tech company when the head of the development department who is primarily responsible for a promising new material, Dr. Fabian Kurz tells his boss Prof. Dichgans that he will leave the company tomorrow to continue his career in the USA. Another talented employee, Retzlaff, observed this and shortly afterwards was called by Kurz that he would not take him to the USA because he wanted to build a new team there. The next morning, Kurz was shot dead by a man he knew at close range while jogging. Palu and Deininger take up the investigation. Ms. Kurz takes the news calmly. Meanwhile, a presentation of the new material takes place at the von Dichgans company, but the demonstration fails. Palu shows up and informs those present of Kurz's murder. Dichgans does not tell Palu that Kurz wanted to leave and the argument. Palu speaks to Retzlaff, who, however, is distant and arrogant. Palu also witnesses how Retzlaff disgusts his colleague Christian Keitel. In this Palu recognizes the son of one of his best friends and asks him.

Meanwhile, Palu learns that his friend and painter and sculptor Cornelius Faber had a fatal accident in Corsica, and that he wanted to go to the vernissage the next day. When Palu and Deininger visit Ms. Kurz again, a young woman named Kathrin Lehmann appears at her place, who introduces herself as his lover. Ms. Kurz insults Ms. Lehmann, whereupon she leaves the house crying. She expresses the suspicion to Palu and Deininger that Ms. Kurz killed her husband. Palu and Deininger go to the cosmetics studio where Amelie Kurz is a customer and check their alleged appointment there at the time of the crime. Ms. Guntrum, who works there, a good friend of Ms. Kurz, has falsified the appointment in order to construct an alibi for Amelie Kurz, the police can see through that. Ms. Guntrum then states that Amelie Kurz is having an affair and that she is covering this affair. Palu seeks out Eliane Faber, the wife of the fatally injured Cornelius Faber, with whom he is also friends. He gently teaches her about her husband's death. She is dismayed, but still wants to hold the vernissage with his works. She reveals to Palu that she is financially in difficulties and therefore dependent on selling at least ten of his works. Christian Keitel visits Retzlaff and asks him if he could work in his team. Retzlaff brusquely rejects his request.

Shortly before his death, he deleted all data from the company's hard drive. Dichgans suspects that the data is with Retzlaff. Keitel suggests that Dichgans win this over for himself. Palu follows Amelie shortly to Nancy, where she wants to make an expensive investment. Palu speaks to her about her false alibi and gives her a day to name her affair. Dichgans tries to get Retzlaff on his side. Retzlaff rejects him, he too wants to leave the company and has carried out research on his own account. When Dichgans reproaches him, Retzlaff gives him to understand that he has observed the argument between him and Kurz and that he is suspicious of having shot Kurz. Palu seeks Kathrin Lehmann, she should fly with Kurz. Then she waited in vain at the airport and suspected that something had happened to him. He wanted to take his colleague Retzlaff with him. Palu discovers a painting by Cornelius Faber from her; she tells Palu that she got the picture from Fabian Kurz, they were good friends. When Palu tells her that he perished on the same day as Fabian, the university lecturer, who also carried out work for Kurz, says that she doesn't believe in coincidences. Palu visits Retzlaff, who confirms that he wanted to go to the USA with Kurz. He reports to Palu about the quarrel between Dichgans and Kurz; When asked about this, Dichgans denies having murdered Kurz.

Retzlaff and Kathrin Lehmann meet. Retzlaff tells her that Kurz wanted to ditch him and still not take him to the USA. Retzlaff suggests to Kathrin Lehmann to work together as “heir” of Fabian Kurz and she sees this as positive. At the vernissage, Palu finds out that Eliane Faber and Amelie Kurz knew each other. Dichgans solemnly announced at a general meeting that his company was about to enter into a preliminary contract with a US company. Retzlaff disturbs the gathering and ridicules Dichgans as a "non-expert". Dichgans gives him notice without notice, Christian Keitel wants to mediate between Retzlaff and Dichgans. During the vernissage, Palu asked Eliane how well she knew Amelie Kurz. Eliane reacts irritably, but then replies that she met her through her husbands friends. Meanwhile, Retzlaff is run over by a car and a CD is stolen from the man's jacket pocket. The seriously injured man tells the paramedics that it wasn't an accident. Deininger is at the crime scene, but cannot reach Palu, who has been chasing Amelie Kurz and who is watching her making love in the wild at a ruin with her lover. This is Christian Keitel, who tells her that he has to go to Fabian Kurz's computer tonight. Palu approaches them. Deininger reaches Palu and informs him that Retzlaff has succumbed to his injuries. This immediately informs Amelie Kurz and Christian Keitel.

Palu later talks to Keitel alone and tells him that Retzlaff's death was not an accident. According to Keitel, the entire know-how should have been made available to the institute, because the company financed this research. Palu sees this as a motive for murder for Dichgans. Palu orders the confiscation of Dichgans' car. Keitel and Amelie drive to her home and Keitel gets access to Fabian Kurz's laptop, finds the data and cheers. He copies the data and wants to go to the USA with it. Amelie insists on coming along, but realizes that Keitel is only talking about himself and that she no longer plays a role. He tells her tough in the face that he now has to set priorities. When Keitel returns to the ruins in the morning and examines and wipes the front of his car, Palu is also present and tells him not to cover any tracks. In the police station they learned that Kurz owned a pistol like the murder weapon. Therefore, Palu and Deininger assume that Amelie Kurz is involved in the murder. Deininger is of the opinion, however, that she gave the gun to Keitel and shot him. Dichgans' car shows no signs of an accident. Keitel is arrested, admits to having caused a hit-and-run accident to Retzlaff and stole a CD with access to the research results from him, but denies the murder of Kurz - Amelie was with him during this time. Kurz's gun has disappeared, Amelie Kurz doesn't know where to go. She tells Palu that Christian Keitel broke up with her after he got the data from Fabian Kurz.

Palu's friend Margit, who was also in a relationship with Cornelius Faber years ago, does not believe that Faber is dead because he was a good driver. The body was charred, so she believes that the dead person could have been someone else. Palu is also suspicious and informed by the insurance company that Faber had taken out life insurance for 5 million euros five weeks before his fatal accident. Amelie Kurz meets with Palu and tells him that she visited Keitel that morning at the time of the crime and calls witnesses. So both have an alibi. Amelie Kurz and Eliane Faber, who have a lesbian relationship, meet later. Palu informs Dichgans that he is no longer suspected of having murdered Retzlaff. He had arrested Keitel, who had brought Kurz's data into his possession. Dichgans now presents as an alibi for the murder of Kurz, for which he is still suspected, the visit to a dominatrix , where he has "strengthened himself for the day". Cornelius Faber appears in the exhibition room of his pictures with his wife. She reacts angrily because they had an appointment in London. But Faber had the inspiration that she and Amelie Klein would not come there and would like the meeting to take place right here in the studio. Palu seeks out the last remaining suspect, Kathrin Lehmann. She informs him that Kurz and Faber had a mighty argument on her phone shortly before Faber's death: Faber had promised a loan, but not given it, and only insulted Kurz. In the meantime, Eliane Faber and Amelie Kurz only want to give Cornelius Faber a share of the sales proceeds from his pictures, but not from the life insurance and his legacy, in order to have more money for their future life together on a bought island in the Caribbean. Palu and Deininger go to Eliane Faber's studio, Palu enters unnoticed, overhears that the women had hatched the murder plan, shot Cornelius Faber Kurz and put a fatally injured motorcyclist in his car and intervenes when Faber with Kurz ' Wants to shoot gun at his wife. The murderous trio is arrested.

Due to the events, Palu missed his cooking competition, but Margit stepped in for him with his recipe and won. Palu comes to the award ceremony and is proud of his girlfriend.

Reviews

TV fiction film judged: "An absurd script - Palu has to kick".

Kino.de judged: “As always, Huby, who also writes the 'Tatorte' from Stuttgart, happily hops back and forth between the different narrative levels: Actually, Palu (Jochen Senf) wants to calmly prepare for a cooking competition. No wonder that with so much cooking passion, the investigations are rather annoying to him. After all, the commissioner finds in Hans-Christoph Blumenberg, regular director of the crime thrillers from Saarbrücken, a brother in spirit: Blumenberg stages about at the same pace as the temporary heavyweight gasps through Saarbrücken.
