The brewery manager Heinrich Hartholz does not shy away from driving independent beer publishers into ruin in order to take over their property. Markus Keller, head of a push column , supports Hartholz in his criminal machinations. The crooked business is going well until Keller falls in love with the wife of a beer publisher. While Keller is now having doubts about his business with hardwood, Hartholz also insists on the implementation of their current deal.
