William Bradley "Brad" Pitt (born December 18, 1963 in Shawnee , Oklahoma ) is an American actor and film producer and two-time Oscar winner . He is also the co-founder and sole owner of the film production company Plan B Entertainment .

life and career

Early years and career start

Brad Pitt, who has English , Irish , Scottish , Swedish , Dutch and German ancestry, grew up with his two younger siblings Doug and Julie in Springfield, Missouri . His father, William Alvin Pitt, was a trucking company manager, while his mother, Jane Etta Pitt (nee Hillhouse), was a school counselor. Both belong to the Protestant denomination and are strict Baptists .

Pitt sang in the church choir as a child and youth and was brought up very religiously. After finishing school at Kickapoo High School he began in 1982 to study journalism and advertising at the University of Missouri , where he a member of the fraternity Sigma Chi was.

In 1985 he dropped out two weeks before graduation, even though he was only missing two courses. He moved to Los Angeles to become an actor. Through his part-time job as a chauffeur for strippers, Pitt came into contact with Roy London, at that time one of the most renowned acting teachers in Los Angeles, who enabled him to enter the film industry. He initially kept himself afloat with smaller jobs, for example with a commercial for Levi's jeans.

Pitt made his film debut in 1987 in Hunk ; however, his role in the comedy was so insignificant that his name was not featured in the credits . His roles as a waiter in the thriller No Man's Land - Tatort 911 and party-goers in the literary film Unter Null were also not mentioned in the film credits. Pitt caught the attention of the movie industry in 1991 when he played Geena Davis' young lover in the film Thelma & Louise . At the side of Kim Basinger and Gabriel Byrne , he took on the role of Detective Frank Harris in Cool World in 1992 , a combination of real and cartoon films . He was then hired by Robert Redford for his film A River Runs From the Middle (1992), and he played an unscrupulous serial killer in the 1993 thriller California . In the film True Romance (1993), the first collaboration with Quentin Tarantino , who had written the script for the film, he played the minor supporting role of Floyd.

Pitt finally achieved his international breakthrough as an actor alongside Tom Cruise in the film adaptation of the novel Interview with a Vampire (1994), at the latest with the drama Legends of Passion (1994) he became a teen idol. He played an IRA terrorist alongside Harrison Ford in Confidant Feind (1997) and played the Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer in Jean-Jaques Annaud's Seven Years in Tibet (1997) . The People's Republic of China banned him for life because of his involvement in the film.

In 1998, Pitt played Death in Human Form at the side of Anthony Hopkins and Claire Forlani in Rendezvous with Joe Black . In Fight Club (1999) he embodies the rebellious, rebellious colleague Edward Norton . Activity as a film producer

In 2002 Brad Pitt founded the film production company Plan B Entertainment with Brad Gray and his then-wife Jennifer Aniston . Pitt has been the sole owner of the company since 2006.
