William Bradley "Brad" Pitt (born December 18, 1963 in Shawnee , Oklahoma ) is an American actor and film producer and two-time Oscar winner . He is also the co-founder and sole owner of the film production company Plan B Entertainment .

life and career

Early years and career start

Brad Pitt, who has English , Irish , Scottish , Swedish , Dutch and German ancestry, grew up with his two younger siblings Doug and Julie in Springfield, Missouri . His father, William Alvin Pitt, was a trucking company manager, while his mother, Jane Etta Pitt (nee Hillhouse), was a school counselor. Both belong to the Protestant denomination and are strict Baptists .

Pitt sang in the church choir as a child and youth and was brought up very religiously. After finishing school at Kickapoo High School he began in 1982 to study journalism and advertising at the University of Missouri , where he a member of the fraternity Sigma Chi was.

In 1985 he dropped out two weeks before graduation, even though he was only missing two courses. He moved to Los Angeles to become an actor. Through his part-time job as a chauffeur for strippers, Pitt came into contact with Roy London, at that time one of the most renowned acting teachers in Los Angeles, who enabled him to enter the film industry. He initially kept himself afloat with smaller jobs, for example with a commercial for Levi's jeans.

In 2002 Brad Pitt founded the film production company Plan B Entertainment with Brad Gray and his then-wife Jennifer Aniston . Pitt has been the sole owner of the company since 2006.
