Dede Gardner
Dede Gardner , actually Dorcas Wright Gardner (born October 16, 1967 ) is an American film producer .
Live and act
Gardner grew up in Winnetka , Illinois . She is the daughter of John Gardner, partner in investment bank William Blair & Company, and Dorothy Gardner, president of the Michael Reese Health Trust in Chicago .
Gardner studied English literature at Columbia University . In 1990 she graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree . She then worked as a location scout in New York. In this role she was involved in the films Time of Innocence and Romeo Is Bleeding , among others . She then worked for New York artist and literary agents, first for Scott Landis at Innovative Artists and from 1994 for Joni Evans at the William Morris Agency.
In 1996, Gardner became Director of Creative Affairs at Paramount Pictures . In spring 1998 she was promoted to Vice President Of Production , and in 2001 she was promoted to Senior Vice Production Manager. During her 7 years at Paramount, she was involved in development and production projects for the films In & Out , A Simple Plan and Election .
On September 9, 2000, she married Jonathan Berg, owner of the film production company Berg-Saccani Entertainment.
From Paramount, Gardner moved to Plan B Entertainment , a film production company founded in 2003 by Brad Pitt , among others . She became company president and co-producer of feature films such as The Assassination of Jesse James by Coward Robert Ford , The Courageous Path, and The Tree of Life . She received an Oscar in 2014 for the production of the film drama 12 Years a Slave . She shared the award with Brad Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner , Steve McQueen and Anthony Katagas . Another award for Moonlight followed in 2017 .
