Michael De Luca

Michael "Mike" De Luca (* 1965 in New York City ) is an American film producer and screenwriter .

Career

De Luca studied film studies at New York University . In 1987 he began his career as a screenwriter for The Lawnmower Man . As a screenwriter he was also involved in the 1988/89 television series Freddy's Nightmares .

In 1994 De Luca wrote the screenplay for the horror film The Forces of Madness , 1995 was involved in the development of the story of Judge Dredd . His last work as a writer was a script for an episode of the 1996 television series Star Trek: Voyager Spaceship .

In 1991 De Luca first produced Freddy's Finale - Nightmare on Elm Street 6, a feature film for New Line Cinema . There he later took over the post of President of Production . In 2003 De Luca moved to DreamWorks Pictures in the same position . De Luca was nominated for an Oscar in 2011 for his involvement in the production of The Social Network . He also won an award from the American Film Institute in 2010 for the film . De Luca produced for Universal Pictures under the banner of his production company Michael De Luca Prods. the horror film Dracula Untold .

At the end of 2013 it was announced that De Luca would take up the post of President of Production at Columbia Pictures from February 2014 .

Together with Jennifer Todd , he produces the 2017 and 2018 Oscars .
