Notruf Hafenkante is a German TV series by ZDF . The police series takes place in Hamburg and tells of the everyday life of the PK 21 police officers and the doctors at the fictional Elbe hospital . The actions are designed in such a way that both areas work together to solve a case. The series is produced by Letterbox Filmproduktion, a subsidiary of Studio Hamburg Produktion.

Notruf Hafenkante plays in the Hamburg Police Department 21 (PK 21). While several cases / incidents were previously described in one episode, for several seasons only one case per episode has been processed, which both teams investigate. The police officers work closely with the doctors at the Elbkrankenhaus (EKH), as their cases are always linked there. Head of the Police Senior Counselor Wolf Haller and his team are responsible for investigative work; Dr. Jasmin Jonas, the niece of the former district manager, Chief Police Officer Martin Berger, and her colleagues provide medical help.

The fifth season started on November 4, 2010. At the beginning there was a crossover with the series Der Landarzt in the 98th episode . Dr. Jan Bergmann ( Wayne Carpendale ) and his partner Maren Jantzen ( Caroline Scholze ) travel to Hamburg because Jan is the best man of his friend Arne ( Kai Lentrodt ). On January 18, 2013, Sanna Englund and Matthias Schloo appeared in their roles from Notruf Hafenkante in the country doctor episode 283. After a bank robbery, the two policemen followed the perpetrators to Deekelsen. In the first episode of the eighth season there was a crossover with the series Das Traumschiff . The series Notruf Hafenkante , The Country Doctor , The Dream Ship and the Dream Ship - offshoot Cruise to Happiness share a common series universe .
In the middle of the fifth season there were several newcomers to the team, consisting of Janette Rauch as police chief Claudia Fischer and Serhat Çokgezen as police chief Tarik Coban. Police chief inspector Hans Moor ( Bruno F. Apitz ) joined the team for Henning Storm .
New episodes of the series have been broadcast as audio films since January 2013 . From January 24th to February 28th, 2013 the series was interrupted because ZDF wanted to test a new format. The series Heldt took the broadcast slot for six weeks. That was the first hiatus since it started in 2007.
Janette Rauch and Serhat Çokgezen left the series for the 13th season . They were replaced by Police Commissioner Pinar Aslan ( Aybi Era ) and Kris Freiberg ( Marc Barthel ), who made their Notruf Hafenkante debut in the opening episode of the 14th season “First Mission”.
Location
The outdoor locations for the main sets are on or within sight of the tip of the Kehrwieder Island. The "PK 21" is actually the water police area WSPF 22 (responsible for port security and dangerous goods). The interior shots for this were shot in a house of the Ochsenzoll Clinic in Hamburg-Langenhorn . The interior scenes are produced in a converted warehouse in the Lademannbogen industrial park in neighboring Hamburg-Hummelsbüttel . The “EKH” (opposite on the bank) is actually the Oberhafenamt . The interior shots of the EKH are shot in the same studio as those of the "PK 21". The Oberhafenamt building is only filmed from the outside. The lettering + EKH + is shown with a letter animation on the roof. Since January 2016, all interior shots in Atelier A2 on the grounds of Studio Hamburg have been created .

- Melanie Hansen
Melanie Hansen ( Sanna Englund ) has been part of the witness day since the first episode , although she has been on patrol with Nils Meermann for a long time. The police superintendent at the beginning is an experienced policewoman who does her job perfectly. While she forms a very good team with Nils, she has to gradually familiarize herself with his successors Kai and Mattes. Furthermore, in the fourth season, she is persuaded to become Hamburg's new model police officer and to have herself photographed for the police members advertisement. At about the same time, she met Christoph Holsten, who even developed a relationship with her. However, he only takes advantage of Melanie, only to blackmail her with a photo of a break-in in a church. Then she ends this relationship and is happy to be able to keep her job. - Nils Meermann
Police chief inspector Nils Meermann ( Thomas Scharff ) is Melanie's first patrol partner and the duty group leader. In addition, he is with the ward doctor Dr. Anna Jacobi is in a relationship. Nils is very well accepted by his colleagues and also by Anna's son Ole. He is very self-confident, but he has to suffer a terrible fate when his Anna is run over by a car the day before their planned wedding and then dies in the hospital. Nils can be seen in the series until the end of the second season and is the first to leave the PK21 team. He does not indicate to go, but is no longer there from the first episode of season 3. Martin Berger says that he is now in the Rhineland.

After Martin Berger announced in the first episode of the third season, Der Neue , that Nils is now in the Rhineland, Melanie is waiting for her new colleague. However, Kai Norden ( Markus Knüfken ) does not arrive directly at the PK21, as he is involved in a bank robbery, which Melanie then arrives at by chance. But they can solve the case together. Kai is often good for surprises, which is why Melanie doesn't quite get along with him at first. But the two still become a team. When Kai later found Kai's decision in the home with his mother, the savings from his father, as well as the plans for a big trip around the world, which his mother wanted to do years ago, but can no longer do it alone due to her age, the police superintendent acknowledges the service to accompany his mother on a world tour.

After Kai Norden started the world tour with his mother, the greenhorn Mattes Seeler ( Matthias Schloo ) joins the team as his successor. He is initially a candidate for a police commissioner and is doing an internship, while at the same time facing the theory test to become a police commissioner . Because he suffers from exam anxiety, he fails the first exam and therefore has to pass the re-exam. - Franziska Jung
Franziska "Franzi" Jung ( Rhea Harder ) has her debut in the first Notruf-Hafenkante episode witness day and is put together as a team there with the old, experienced buoy Thomforde. She had just finished her training to become a police chief and is still a little unsure at first, but finds herself in the service well. When she is looked after by the psychologist Phillip Rost after an exchange of fire, she falls in love with him and even has a couple of children with him: Emma and a son. While she is pregnant with Emma, she is promoted to chief police officer. In the meantime she is taking maternity leave. In addition, years later she separated from her husband Phillip and raised her children alone. Franzi's father Karl-Heinz Rufenberg is a globetrotter who has been to South America in the meantime. At first he wants to help his daughter financially with the construction of a house, but due to poor liquidity he becomes homeless. At the end of the fourteenth season, she is appointed police chief.

Bernd “Boje” Thomforde ( Frank Vockroth ) is the police superintendent and Franzi's first patrol partner. He is a calm, but also corpulent and experienced police officer. In addition to his “student” Franzi, he also has to look after his father Hubert, who regularly ends up on the street. He also met the bar owner Elke Kuhnert and the two became a couple. When Elke wants Boje to have a child but does not become pregnant, she goes to the gynecologist and learns that she cannot have children. During his service, he will celebrate his 50th birthday at the same time as Mattes' commissioner certificate. When Franzi goes on maternity leave, Henning works with Police Superintendent Jule Schmitt, whom he knows from boxing and who once fetched them from the street. The fact that Jule might not have become a police officer without Henning connects the two. Their last joint case of fair game leads the two to the home where Jule was as a teenager and was raped. As in the past, Jules was the perpetrator of the current case. When he insulted Jule as a "bull bitch" when he was arrested, Henning slaps him in the face. Since the Peininger was handcuffed at the time of Henning's attack and Henning previously also forced a suspect to take off his pants, he will be transferred to a punishment after the end of the case.

- Claudia Fischer
Shortly after Hans Moor joined the team in the 5th season, there were restructuring measures in the Hamburg police and some PKs were closed and the officers were distributed to other PKs. So it happened that police chief Claudia Fischer ( Janette Rauch ) switched from the PK23 to the PK21 in the 115th episode The Great Bluff and there occupied Peter 21/3 with Tarik Coban, who had just left the police school. Claudia is very experienced and a policewoman with a strong character. She is also the quieter pole to her often rebellious colleague Tarik Coban. She has a son who, like his mother, wants to be a policeman, but often ends up with the wrong people. After 8 years on the PK21, she quits duty in the last episode of Season 12 and opens a workshop for children with her son.
- Tarik Coban
Tarik Coban ( Serhat Cokgezen ) begins his police career on the PK21, as he has just graduated from police school. He comes from a large Turkish family and can therefore often let his many contacts play, but also communicate with others in Turkish. He also likes to bring part of Turkish culture to the PK in the form of Turkish yogurt or Turkish tea. Since Tarik has a fiery temperament, his colleague Claudia often has to slow him down. In the last episode of the 12th season he goes to Munich.

After the Peter 21/3 was completely unoccupied in the 13th season, it is recruited in the first episode of the 14th season First Mission . On the one hand, Police Commissioner Pinar Aslan ( Aybi Era ) from Berlin is new. She is first assigned to Hans so that he can familiarize her with Hamburg. Kris Freiberg ( Marc Barthel ), like Tarik Coban, joins the team fresh from police school. At this point, however, he is already 30. In the first two episodes of season 14, he still drives with Franzi Streife, for the same reason that Pinar drives with Hans Streife: The Hamburg colleague should familiarize the newcomer with Hamburg . Kris comes from Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg and went on a big trip around the world to escape the petty bourgeoisie. - Martin Berger
Chief Police Officer Martin Berger ( Peer Jäger ) is the first district manager of the PK21. A handsome man in his prime, who has his team under control and fully trusts his people. During the 7th season he suffers a bad herniated disc and has to be hospitalized. At the beginning of the 8th season he was promoted in absentia and in his new position as Police Director he was given a new office outside of PK21. He is then replaced by Chief Police Officer Wolf Haller. Martin Berger is married and has a daughter named Lena. His wife Karin works in social services and continues to play in the series even after Martin left.
- Wolf Haller
Wolf Haller ( Hannes Hellmann ) replaces Martin Berger as district manager. Compared to Martin, however, he is rather dry and not exactly the friendliest person. He's rather strict and doesn't care about celebrating his birthday.
In episode 129 (Season 6. Episode 7) The Last Curtain , Hannes Hellmann already had a guest appearance. He subsequently played a director.

- Jörn Wollenberger
Jörn Wollenberger, called Wolle, ( Harald Maack ) only does not appear in the first episode witness day . But since the second episode he has simply become an integral part of the area. He is the good soul of the PK21 and takes care of the funk full-time, but also other little things. - Dr. Haase
Dr. Phillip Haase ( Fabian Harloff ) is the series ambulance. He is regularly called to the operations and has to bring the patients to the EKH. The police officers are usually on site. He has a half-brother Arthur, who appears in the episode Cursed Love , and is a musician.
- Dr. Jasmine Jonas
Dr. Jasmin Jonas ( Gerit Kling ) already appears three episodes before Dr. Jacobi's death. After their death, she becomes the chief admission doctor. She is Martin Berger's niece.
- Frauke Prinz
Frauke Prinz ( Manuela Wisbeck ) is the sister at the reception and the nursing manager of the emergency room and appears for the first time in episode 84. Her good and open soul often brings Dr. Jonas to clever flashes of inspiration.
- Dr. Eva Grünberg
Dr. Eva Grünberg ( Laura Berlin ) has been with us since the 13th season. When she meets Mattes, the two fall in love and become a happy couple. Audience ratings
For the first season, an average of 13.2% of all over three-year-olds tuned in. At the beginning of the second season, the proportion of viewers aged three and over was 12-13%, but in March 2008 it reached a record of 15.4% of the total audience. The following third season achieved a market share of 14.3%, the fourth season an identical percentage. At the beginning of the fifth season, the series reached a rate of 17.2%.
Trivia
- In January 2010, a 104-page paperback was published on the television series with the title “Operations on Hamburg's harbor edge”. Brief content: Presentation of all actors from 2006 to 2010, prominent guest actors, description of the locations, search puzzles with terms from the TV series, list of all episodes broadcast so far, photo visits to the port emergency call, information about directors, scriptwriters, extras etc.
- Before Hannes Hellmann took over the district management as Wolf Haller in 2013 , he already had an episode role as director in the episode The Last Curtain in 2011 .
- In July 2015 another book was published about the television series with the title “The team from PK 21 and EKH”. The author introduces the main actors from 2006 to 2015, draws attention to film errors, provides background information about the locations and lists all episodes that have been broadcast to date in this reference work. Among other things, it includes photos from the set as well as information about directors, scriptwriters, extras and prominent guest actors.
