Werner Jantosch

Werner Jantosch (born August 26, 1950 in Hamburg ) was police chief in Hamburg from 2004 to 2012 .
Werner Jantosch graduated from elementary school in Eppendorf and attended the Kellinghusenstrasse commercial school. He began training with the Hamburg police force in 1968 as a middle-class police candidate. In 1971 he was with the Hamburg riot police . From 1978 to 1981 he trained as a police commissioner with a degree in administrative management (FH) . From 1981 to 1985 Jantosch was a service group leader in Police Department 11. He completed an apprenticeship from 1985 to 1987 at the Police Command Academy in Münster . From 1987 to 1989 he was deputy head of department in the state police school and lecturer in administrative law. As a police officer on duty, he worked from 1989 to 1990. From 1990 to 1993 he was head of operations at the central police station.
From 1993 to 1996 he was press spokesman for the Hamburg police force. In 1996 he played an important role as press spokesman in the cooperation between the police and the media in the Reemtsma kidnapping . Together they managed to keep the kidnapping secret for four weeks. From 1996 to 1998 he was the head of the human resources department. He then became the deputy head of the Hamburg riot police and remained so until 2000. In 2001/2002 he was the chief of staff at the Police Directorate South. In 2002/2003 Jantosch was head of the policy department in the presidential department and from 2003 head of the presidential department. From 2003 to March 29, 2004 Jantosch was police vice president.
Jantosch was appointed police president of Hamburg in 2004 by the then Hamburg Interior Senator Udo Nagel . In 2010 Jantosch was elected chairman of the working group of police presidents of Germany. Jantosch thus succeeded North Hesse's police chief Wilfried Henning . Jantosch had been the police chief in Hamburg from March 30, 2004 to January 13, 2012. His successor was Wolfgang Kopitzsch . The non-party Jantosch was given early retirement.
Werner Jantosch has been chairman of the Hamburg Police Association since the end of 2014 .
