The Studio Hamburg GmbH is a production and service company for film and television productions. According to its own information, it is "Germany's largest service company for everything to do with film, television and new media". history

Studio Hamburg was founded in 1947 by Gyula Trebitsch and Walter Koppel as part of Real-Film GmbH . Real-Film GmbH's first production was the film " Arche Nora " (premiere February 6, 1948). The studio was purposefully expanded and not only used by Real-Film, but also rented to other producers. Over a hundred feature films, including Des Teufels General , Der Hauptmann von Köpenick and Die Zürcher Verlobung were shot here.

In 1959, Norddeutsche Werbefernsehen und Werbefunk GmbH (NWF) took an 80% share in the studio, which was separated from Real-Film as Real-Film-Atelier-Betriebs GmbH under Trebitsch. In 1961 the name was changed to Studio Hamburg GmbH . In 1970 there were considerations that Axel Springer Verlag should participate in Studio Hamburg. This led to resistance , especially within the SPD . The state party congress of the SPD Hamburg passed a resolution in which it said among other things: "The state party congress expects all decision-making bodies of the NDR and its subsidiaries to oppose the planned transaction in its current form." ZDF moved its state studio in Hamburg here in 1989 and Sat.1 , Premiere and RTL Television also have production facilities here.

Studio Hamburg has been awarding the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award since 1997 (see also: House of Young Producers ). Since 1971, the company has been 100 percent owned by NDR through its subsidiary NDR Media GmbH (formerly NWF GmbH ) .
