Die Männer vom K3 was a German crime series broadcast from 1988 to 2003 about four Hamburg police officers in a homicide squad that was produced by the Hamburg studio for Das Erste in a 90-minute feature length . The series was the continuation of the crime series Sonderdezernat K1 , which was also written and produced by Harald Vock .

The four men of what was now the K3 special department skillfully clear up capital crimes , with Schöller heading the K3; Feldmann is on an equal footing with him. Beyer and Kirchhoff have a lower rank and are also younger. Harald Vock , who was largely responsible for the success of the series and who wrote 25 episodes himself until his death (and also directed one), relied on first-class actors and directors with Studio Hamburg. As directors were Dietrich Haugk and Gero Erhardt committed for five episodes.

After the lead actor Hartmut Reck died of a heart attack in 2001, the series ended. The outstanding episodes of Free Fall and Blood Feud were broadcast in April 2002 and April 2003. The subsequent production K3 - Kripo Hamburg can be considered a successor.

In 1994 the episode Made in Hong Kong received the pickle of the media women’s meeting .

Incidentally, the office setting is the same as that in the Tatort episodes with Commissioners Stoever and Brockmöller .
