The three ??? - The cursed castle is a German crime film from 2009 and the second part of a planned Die Drei ??? -Trilogy. The film is based on a free adaptation of the 1968 German book series Die Drei ??? ... and the haunted castle of Robert Arthur (in the original: The Secret of Terror Castle , 1964). The first part, The three ??? - The Mystery of Ghost Island was released in 2007.

On Justus' birthday in Rocky Beach, the " three question marks ", Justus Jonas, Peter Shaw and Bob Andrews, came across a mysterious video tape. The two friends had prepared a birthday party for Justus with their uncle and aunt , but at the same time a thief was rummaging through the old things of Justus' deceased parents. He has to leave the damaged “ tape ” behind, however, on it are fragments of Justus' father and mother, which give clues to an unsolved riddle. The three ??? follow the traces to the gloomy estate of the strange inventor Stephen Terill, who has also died. This is located in a wooded area in northern California, but the drive there is easy because Justus has won a prize: he can have a Rolls-Royce with Morton, the chauffeur , for a few weeks .

On site, however, they experience an unfriendly reception from Sheriff Hanson, who drives them off the private property. In addition, a curse is said to haunt those who dare to enter the castle. Even though Jupiter, Peter and Bob are washed up, they have to muster up all their courage before they step onto the ghostly walls. It quickly becomes clear that things are not going well there. But that's not all: the dogged Sheriff Hanson is after the boys. And his psychic daughter Caroline casts an eye on Bob of all people and sees him as a soul mate from a distant past.
