Konrad "Konny" Reimann (born September 10, 1955 in Hamburg ) is a German entrepreneur and a television personality.

Life

Reimann grew up with his mother and stepfather in Hamburg-Harburg . After elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a ship engine builder and technical draftsman at the Blohm + Voss shipyard in Hamburg from 1972 to 1975 . There he went through all the departments that are necessary to build a ship. After two years of service in the Bundeswehr, he worked as a refrigeration technician.

He lived in Schenefeld near Hamburg for twenty years . In 2004 he emigrated to the United States with his wife Manuela , who had won a green card , and their two children , where they settled in Gainesville in northeast Texas . They were accompanied by a camera team from Extra - Das RTL-Magazin .

With his striking appearance, mustache, jeans and cowboy hat, Reimann soon became “Germany's most famous emigrant”. In addition to a total of 84 appearances on Extra - The RTL magazine , Reimann and his family soon became an integral part of the docu-soap Goodbye Germany! The emigrants from the TV station VOX .

Over the years Reimann implemented a number of projects, such as the acquisition of a lake property on Moss Lake . On it he built a striking 743 m² house with a lighthouse, based on the model from the American film Your, My & Our . The family ran a holiday resort with three guest houses on this "Konny Island" site with a jetty. The end of 2015 attracted Reimann and his wife after O'ahu , one of the eight main islands of Hawaii -Archipels. There they bought a plot of land on the edge of a forest reserve in Pūpūkea on the North Shore . They renovated and rebuilt the existing spacious house according to their wishes; On their property (called "Konny-Island III") they rent a small guest apartment in an outbuilding. The Reimanns sold their Texas real estate in December 2016. The move, the couple's life in Hawaii and the careers of their two children in the USA will continue to be shown on German TV.

He also appeared on German talk shows, completed lecture tours in Germany and advertised various companies such as Altenloh, Brinck & Co (Spax-Schrauben), the dairy Alois Müller GmbH & Co. KG , Halberstädter (grilled sausages), Ford (Off-road vehicle) and ProHaus extension house. Since January 2020 he has been promoting the world's largest discounter Lidl for its handicrafts. As early as 2013, Reimann tested the tools of the two supermarket chains on the ZDF program “Aldi versus Lidl”, which attracted 6.04 million viewers.

He also made a dozen do-it-yourself films for campers on the subject of “How do I convert a Greyhound bus into a motor home?”, Which are shown at camping and caravan fairs. In 2013 he had a guest role in the series Notruf Hafenkante . The first season of the documentary soap Die Reimanns started on December 23, 2013 - an extraordinary life on RTL II and has accompanied Reimann and his family in their everyday lives ever since. In 2015 and 2016, he was also looking for a “do-it-yourselfer” for RTL II. In the following years he shot the survival format Konny Goes Wild! . In May 2020, he and his wife started their own YouTube channel.

In 2008 he published his autobiography , in 2009 his "Barbecue Bible" and in 2010 a comic followed .

In the meantime, Konny Reimann has also been the subject of a cultural studies study at the University of Marburg: "The Konny Reimann Phenomenon - Star Cult and Long-Term Observation on Reality TV"

In August 2017, a rap song about him called Konny Reimann was released by hip-hop singer Felix Krull , in which the self-made mentality of the emigrant is praised.
