The north coast of the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu between Kaʻena ( ) and Kahuku Point ( ) is called the North Shore . It is commonly known for its famous surfing spots and sandy beaches. Especially in winter there are often meter high waves, in summer, on the other hand, the sea is mirror-smooth. The North Shore is also the venue for three of the most famous surfing competitions, the Triple Crown of Surfing , which also includes the Billabong Pipeline Masters . The largest city in the area is Haleʻiwa . Six kilometers to the west is Dillingham airfield, which is mainly used for motorized hang-glider and glider flights as well as parachutists. Intensive agriculture is also practiced on the North Shore. Here are the largest fields of papaya, pineapple, asparagus and cocoa on the island.
