Welcome to Mario Barth was a television show on the private television broadcaster RTL . It was produced in collaboration with Hauptstadthelden TV Produktion, small unit production.
content
In his show "Willkommen bei Mario Barth", the Berlin comedian welcomes German and international comedians and music acts for "funny talks and crazy studio activities" with the audience and guests.
concept
The program usually begins with a stand-up appearance by presenter Mario Barth , in which he talks about everyday life and the interpersonal relationship between men and women. In the first season, which consisted of six episodes, he could be seen somewhere in Las Vegas in every episode and explored the country and its people. In the second season, which consisted of five episodes, he was in Miami . In addition, several German comedians such as Paul Panzer , Kaya Yanar , Dieter Nuhr or Mirja Boes have a stand-up appearance on the show. This is complemented by the appearance of music acts such as A-ha , Robbie Williams or Culcha Candela .
In the newer seasons there is a quiz called "Barth aber fair", which was moderated in 2015 by Mirco Nontschew and in 2016 by Hugo Egon Balder . Mario Barth competes against the celebrity guests. Three questions are asked, whereby the candidate can score one on the first question, two on the second and three on the third question. The winner receives a sack filled with money, which they can give away to someone in the audience. A running gag at Barth, but fair, are the bright spotlights with which Nontschew and the candidates are dazzled before every question.
Since 2017, the quiz has been moderated from time to time by Marco Rima on the sofa.
Production and broadcast
So far, 17 seasons of Welcome to Mario Barth with four to eight episodes per season have been produced by Hauptstadthelden TV Produktion, small unit production and mo2 design. Three of the first four seasons were broadcast in the "Sandwich" of Das Supertalent or Deutschland sucht den Superstar on RTL, that is between the live and decision shows, which had a positive effect on the ratings. The shows are usually produced without interruption within a few days.
After 96 episodes in 17 seasons, the last edition of the show ran on April 21, 2018. The new Mario & Friends format will serve as the successor from November 2019 .
Oddities
The show caused a stir when Mario Barth broke into the Big Brother house in 2009 . "If they don't let me in at the front, I'll let myself in!"
In one season he broke his foot in one of the episodes and therefore had to moderate his season on crutches to the end.
reception
criticism
“... when you switch to RTL late on a Saturday evening, as an average educated person you are amazed at what has now been passed off as 'comedy'. In the short stand-up part of the show, experience has shown that no punch line is ignited, because Barth basically doesn't tell funny things. But that doesn't stop him from interrupting each sentence by laughing himself several times. In the Barth universe, what counts is rather the assertion of wit. , Pass uff! Now it comes! Dude, that's him Hamma! ' In this way, Mario prepares his audience so that they have to break out into hooting storms of enthusiasm. In the event that the audience is a little more dumb than expected, each anti-punchline is delayed for minutes and often by repeated 'you understand ?!' underpinned. This is by no means battered airtime - this is how Humor 2.0 works in the Barth era [...] Barth also regularly receives talk guests on his TV show. Whereby the term 'talk' is far too high, because a real conversation doesn't want to arise with any of the invited celebrities. For example, he preferred to amuse himself with celebrity trainee Jana Ina over various vibrators and dildos [...] at least we now know why so many foreigners think that Germans have no sense of humor. The answer is "Welcome to Mario Barth". "
