Mario Wolfgang Barth (born November 1, 1972 in Berlin-Mariendorf ) is a German comedian and presenter .

Life

Barth was born in Berlin-Mariendorf and has five siblings. His father comes from Ulm, his mother from Upper Bavaria. Mario Barth attended the Catholic private school St. Marien in Neukölln . He is Catholic and was an altar boy in his youth .

Barth trained as a communications electronics technician at Siemens in Berlin, specializing in telecommunications. Then he took acting classes. He took part in comedy workshops such as the Cologne Comedy School . He gained stage experience with short appearances in the television programs NightWash and Quatsch Comedy Club . Since the beginning of 2001 he has been with the stage program Men are pigs, but women too! on road. In 2003 he received his own comedy questionnaire from ProSieben no idea? , the second season of which aired in 2005. He was irregular guest in the comedy program Schiller Street and Clueless Genius had since 2004. In addition, he from the outset in the RTL telecast Typical woman - Typical man there.

In 2009 he released his first feature film, the comedy Mannersache , in which, as in his comedy programs, he explores the relationship between men and women. In April of the same year, the audio book Männnersache was also published on CD. In July 2008, Barth set the world record as a “live comedian with the most viewers” ​​by performing in front of around 70,000 spectators in the Olympiastadion Berlin . For the performance he published the single Mensch Berlin , which he recorded with Paul Kuhn . In September 2008 the DVD was released The World Record Show: Men are primitive, but happy! , which includes the complete appearance in the Olympic Stadium.

At the end of 2008, Mario Barth was voted “Most embarrassing Berlin 2008” from among 100 candidates by the Berlin city magazine tip . In May 2009 Barth started his stage program with the title Men are embarrassing, women sometimes too! The accompanying live CD was released in September 2009. From 2009 to 2018 he hosted the comedy show Willkommen bei Mario Barth on RTL. The follow-up show Mario Barth & Friends has been around since 2019 . In 2012 and 2013 he was his fourth live program Men are to blame, say the women on tour. The accompanying live DVD was released at the end of 2013.

Since 2013 he has moderated Mario Barth Reveals! at RTL. Cases of tax waste are commented on in loose succession. Criticism and litigation

In December 2010, Barth had the phrase "Nothing rhymes with Uschi" registered as a word mark , although this was coined in the 1990s by the presenters of the program Frühstyxradio on Radio ffn and Oliver Kalkofe and Dietmar Wischmeyer were on tour under this motto. ffn submitted an application for deletion of the Barths word mark, which was unsuccessful. He lost another legal dispute because of his protected word mark Don't chat, he lost in July 2011 because it was “not protectable” as general wisdom. As a result, the word mark was deleted by the DPMA in 2013 due to an application for deletion.

When in 2011 the left-wing youth Solid from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania published a poster with a slogan and a picture of Barth as part of a campaign against the spread of sexist role stereotypes, they took legal action against it. The organization used his photo without consent, which is why a declaration of cease and desist was requested. The youth organization did not comply with the request and saw itself protected by the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of expression and the freedom of political competition.

Stefan Niggemeier criticized in the FAZ in March 2014 that Barth's show Mario Barth reveals “ a virtue out of ignorance ” and “ a show out of blind disenchantment with politics ”. The program does not provide for the opportunity to learn something new.

In a post on Facebook on July 22nd, 2016, he complained: “It is becoming more and more difficult to write how you feel, because you either become a 'Hetzer', a 'fear propagator', a 'Natzi' [sic] 'Publicist' or an 'idiot'. ”The comedian Michael Mittermeier accused him of“ cheap propaganda ”and“ nebulous populism ”.

In November 2016, Barth published a video on Facebook in which he claimed on site that the protests in front of Trump Tower that the media had spread about are not currently taking place . On August 30, 2019, Barth published a video on Facebook and Instagram in which he made fun of the climate activist Greta Thunberg and the Fridays For Future movement , as well as expressing climate-skeptical theses. He got a shit storm on social media and on some editorial platforms, on which he commented in written posts and again made mocking remarks on the climate protection movement.
