comedian
A comedian (from Komik ) is an artist who has made it his goal or profession to make other people laugh through facial expressions , gestures or language . There are therefore comedians in all artistic genres, including music and painting.
Comedians are also referred to as people who, for example , often work as (co) creators of a film, a series or a show in the comedy field. There are also musical artists who publish humorous pieces of music and are referred to as comedians. Puppeteers , ventriloquists , impersonators or pantomimes are known above all for using comedy in the practice of their art.
Derived from this is the role subject in the theater (for example: "comic old man", "young comedian"), called comic relief in film .
The term is also sometimes used disparagingly when someone excels by making ridiculous suggestions or actions.

A comedian in the circus is known as a clown . However, most clowns (in contrast to comedians in the vaudeville or on stage) do not speak in the circus, but appear funny through their actions .
A comedian is (also) a comedian who is humorously political messages or criticism of political or social processes practices ( see. The cabaret comedian of 1924). However, this relationship does not apply mutually. The fact that a cabaret artist can be a comedian does not mean that the comedian is also a cabaret artist. The cabaret and the comic are different in many ways. The differentiating criteria here can be e.g. B. Type of jokes and content are used.
In the stand-up comedy it's more contrast to personal situations that are presented in close contact and dialogue with the audience.
