Meedia ( spelling MEEDIA ) is an industry service on media topics from Busch & Glatz . According to their own statements, the offer sees itself as a "source of information for everyone [...] who is interested in the media". In November 2011, the site had 1,580,775 visits and a total of 3,473,309 page views .

history

The website went online on July 14, 2008 after initial plans were announced in February 2007. The publisher was Dirk Manthey, the founder of the Milchstrasse publishing group in 1999, which was taken over by Hubert Burda Media in December 2004 . From the beginning led Georg Altrogge the offer as editor in chief. He resigned from office at the end of February 2013. He was followed in mid-May 2013 by Christian Meier, who switched to the daily newspaper Die Welt in 2014 . Altrogge returned in September 2013 after an interlude at Gruner + Jahr .

Effective April 1, 2013, Manthey sold Meedia to the Handelsblatt publishing group in order to relieve itself of time.

On February 1, 2019, Meedia was sold to Busch & Glatz. Subsequently, the editor-in-chief Georg Altrogge was replaced by Matthias Oden and the editorial office moved from Hamburg to Munich . Furthermore, a paywall was introduced for certain articles on the redesigned website and a new weekly magazine was launched under the same title, which is also published as an e-paper .
