action

The series takes place in Wiesbaden . Bernd Reuther is returning from Berlin, where he has worked as a senior public prosecutor for the past few years. It's been ten years since he caused an accident that killed a woman and seriously injured his own wife. She has lived in a home since then. In the third episode, she is murdered in an arson attack.

Until episode 7.2, Reuther investigates together with his son, Chief Detective Thomas Reuther. The team has consisted of Chief Detective Kerstin Klar, who later becomes Thomas Reuther's wife, and since episode 7.3 Chief Detective Christian Schubert. The couple Reuther / Klar lived in divorce in the later course of the episodes, without any discrepancy in the course of the previous episodes. Thomas Reuther then moves to Eschwege . According to zdf.de, Thomas Reuther is said to have had an affair with a criminal witness during an investigation, whereupon his wife separated from him. After he moved away, he lost contact with his father Bernd Reuther and his ex-wife Kerstin. The consequences themselves do not explain anything and do not show any estrangement between the couple. The change with his successor, Chief Inspector Christian Schubert, is abrupt. In episode 15.2 “Red as Blood”, Schubert is shot and then decides, also considering that he will soon be a father, to leave the field service and switch to administration. His successor is Chief Commissioner Max Fischer.

Public prosecutor Reuther is only responsible for the current case and has already determined himself personally. B. without involving the police officers concerned, interviewed witnesses on site. He is rarely to be found at his desk.

Locations

In the film - in contrast to reality - the public prosecutor's office is located in Wiesbaden's New Town Hall on Schlossplatz . The interior photos of Bernd Reuther's office actually show the premises of the State Office for Monument Preservation in Biebrich Castle . The police station, which can be seen from the outside in every episode, was an empty office building on Hans-Bredow-Straße until season 13, and an office building in Mainz-Kastel (Peter-Sander-Straße 15) has been used as a police station since season 14 .
