General

Christian Berkel in the lead role

On ZDF, the series is broadcast on Friday evening programs (the so-called “ZDF Friday crime thrillers”, which also show the series Der Alte , Ein Fall für Zwei and Der Staatsanwalt ). On SRF 1 , Der Kriminalist is broadcast as a Tuesday evening thriller, three days before it is broadcast on ZDF. The series had a strong 16.9% market share when it launched. The first season consisted of six episodes and ran from December 2006 to January 2007 on television. Directed by Sherry Hormann and Torsten C. Fischer . The second season with a further eight new episodes aired between September 2007 and January 2008. Directed by Thomas Jahn , Jobst Oetzmann and Torsten C. Fischer. A third season with eight more episodes followed from October 2008 (four episodes) and May 2009 (four episodes). The eight episodes of the fourth season were broadcast in October 2009 (four episodes) and from February 2010 (four episodes). A fifth season with eight new episodes was produced in the first half of 2010. Frank Giering could be seen in the first six episodes of this season. After his death, the role of Henry Weber was written from the series - Henry Weber also dies the series death. The new face at Christian Berkel's side was Janek Rieke as Commissioner Max Winter. Since November 2011, the sixth season with seven episodes has been broadcast. The seventh season was broadcast in October and November 2012.

The eighth season with four episodes was broadcast from April 30 on SRF 1 and from May 3, 2013 on ZDF.

The ninth season with eight episodes was broadcast on ZDF from November 8, 2013.

The tenth season with eight episodes was broadcast on ZDF from October 24, 2014.

The first four episodes of the eleven episode 11 season were broadcast on ZDF from November to December 2015. The further episodes from September 2016.

The first five episodes of the ten episode 12 season were broadcast from April 21, 2017 to May 19, 2017 on ZDF. The other episodes were broadcast from November 24th to December 29th, 2017.

After 109 episodes, the series should be discontinued in 2020.

Plot and cast

The series takes place in the Berlin district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg . Chief Inspector Bruno Schumann clarifies murder and criminal cases for the LKA as a victimologist . With the help of his team and the latest forensic technology, the cool inspector investigates in a wide variety of Berlin milieus.

Christian Berkel plays the role of Chief Inspector Bruno Schumann . His colleagues Henry Weber and Anne Vogt were portrayed by Frank Giering and Anna Schudt . From the second season on, Stephanie Japp will take over from Inspector Anne Vogt as Jana Wagner, and another supporting role will be introduced with the detective Bülent Celik, played by Mehmet Bozdoğan . From the fourth season on, Commissioner Jana Wagner will be replaced by Commissioner Alex Keller, played by Maya Bothe , and Chris, played by Patrick Khatami , is also new to the team . The role of Bülent Celik dropped from the fourth season. Since the beginning of the investigative team Inge Tschernay is played by Antonia Holfelder . In addition, Charlotte Schumann, the still-wife of Chief Inspector Schumann, played by Inka Friedrich , and the public prosecutor Lara Solovjev, with whom Schumann also has a secret affair, played by Suzan Anbeh .
