Timo Jacobs (* 1974 in Itzehoe ) is a German actor , director and producer . He owns his own production company called “timo jacobs productions”.

Life

Timo Jacobs has been making films since 2003. First with cult director Klaus Lemke , with whom he shot four films as the main actor and one as a supporting actor .

Jacobs then took part in numerous international and German productions, including films such as Dreileben - Komm mir nicht nach directed by Dominik Graf and Dreileben - Eine Minute Dunkel by Christoph Hochhäusler . Both films premiered at the Berlinale 2011 and were nominated for the German Film Award and received the German Television Award and the Grimme Award. For his directorial work with Mann im Spagat , Timo Jacobs was nominated for the 2017 German Directing Award by the Bundesverband Regie (BVR). With Mann im Spagat , Jacobs continued to attract international attention: Mann im Spagat was the opening film of the Achtung Berlin New Film Award 2016 and won the award for the best comedy 2017 at the Canada International Film Festival as well as two other prizes at the Queens World Film Festival in NYC. The film toured the world and was shown in selected German cinemas.

Since the end of 2016 Jacobs can be seen as Commissioner Jan Michalski in the ZDF crime series Der Kriminalist at the side of Christian Berkel .
