Das Muli is a television film from the crime series Tatort , which was first broadcast on March 22, 2015. It is the 940th episode in the series and the first case of the Berlin team of investigators Rubin and Karow .

action

13-year-old Johanna wanders through the city with blood-smeared clothes, disoriented. She calls her older brother Ronny crying, who finally finds her the next morning. Meanwhile, the investigators Rubin and Karow are called to an apartment used as a vacation home . The mother of two and detective chief inspector Nina Rubin is actually on vacation today and has problems with her husband, whom she is cheating on and who is finally leaving her. Chief Detective Robert Karow, who was transferred by the drug squad after his partner died under mysterious circumstances during an operation, has his first day at the homicide squad today. There must have been a bloodbath in the bathroom of the apartment. Forensics can determine that a young woman was killed and dismantled in the apartment, but the officers did not find a body. The landlord says that a Turkish businessman named Hamid Yilmaz rented the apartment for his two daughters. The daughters were suntanned, but they looked by no means Turkish. The verification of the alleged registration address of the businessman reveals that his identity is false.

Johanna and her brother Ronny are in the street scene at the Bahnhof Zoo . When a limousine with a Mediterranean-looking man pulls up there and the driver makes inquiries, Johanna urges her brother to flee quickly. The siblings can escape the man and his helper, but Ronny loses his smartphone, which the man finds. Ronny, who was staying in a closed youth facility and has therefore not seen his sister for a long time, learns from her that she and a friend have been invited to Acapulco for a vacation . Ronny organizes a place to stay by letting his friend Kai, who works for a security service in the airport hotel of the not yet opened Berlin-Brandenburg Airport, billet himself and his sister there. Karow instructs the intern Anna to check the passenger data and the surveillance cameras at Berlin-Tegel Airport , as the two girls were tanned during their holidays. Indeed, the officers find what they are looking for and identify a man who picked up two girls from the airport who fit the description. Karow recognizes in him Mehmet Erdem, a Turkish-Kurdish drug dealer of the middle level. Erdem is already being put under pressure by his "superior" Berger, who accuses him of having let Johanna escape.

The dismembered body of the young woman from the apartment is discovered in a garbage recycling plant. Your abdominal wall has been cut open. Karow knows from his time in the drug department that she and the other girl were probably abused as " mules " who were offered money and a vacation in an exotic country so that they could swallow drugs wrapped in condoms and smuggle them into Germany . For the police officers, a race against time begins, as the missing second girl must also have a large amount of drugs in her body. The dead girl can be identified as Barbara Krebs, she was a student, but had dropped out of college and obviously needed money. Johanna tells Ronny how they were recruited and that after their return, when they were supposed to wait in the holiday apartment for the drugs they had swallowed to return naturally, some of the drugs they had swallowed must have burst with Barbara. When she writhed in abdominal cramps, Erdem and his assistant appeared, dragged her to the bathroom, murdered her there, and retrieved the remaining drug bags by gutting the corpse. When Johanna saw what was going on in the bathroom, she secretly fled the apartment, distraught and shocked. Ronny wants to go to the police, but Johanna is scared because Erdem knows someone at the LKA.

Using the connection data from Barbara's cell phone, Karow and Rubin determine that she had recently phoned Johanna Michels, a 13-year-old foster child, a lot. The foster mother can identify Johanna in the photo and provide information about her older brother named Ronny. By evaluating Johanna's cell phone data, they determine the closed home in which Ronny lived. He fled there after calling his sister, three weeks before his regular release.

Karow and Rubin watch Erdem, who appears as a kebab manufacturer to disguise himself and is now obviously looking for Johanna. Erdem calls Karow and tells him to stop the investigation in his and Berger's direction, otherwise he will die. Karow sends Rubin home and continues to investigate on his own. Berger meanwhile forces Erdem to shoot his henchman because he wanted to get out. Meanwhile, Ronny is worried about his sister, who is not doing well. He administered laxatives to her without realizing it could cause the bag to burst. The police finally determined Johanna's whereabouts at the new airport using cell phone tracking . Karow, who receives the information, keeps it to himself and instead informs Erdem, who goes there immediately. Karow wants to put Berger and Erdem there single-handedly and is ready to abuse the two siblings as decoys.

Rubin now learns that Kai works in the airport hotel and therefore combines that Ronny and Johanna are also there. She drives there alone and, to her surprise, meets her colleague Karow in the entrance hall of the abandoned building. They find Kai and his watchdog shot dead. Johanna and Ronny hear the gangsters come and flee, but Erdem pursues them and puts them in the restaurant. In a scuffle, Ronny is shot by Erdem before Karow can catch him. While Johanna and Ronny are being taken to a hospital, Erdem Karow offers his comprehensive testimony if he and his family are accepted into the witness protection program. Before Karow can answer him, Erdem is killed by a targeted head shot from a distance. It remains unclear who the perpetrator is, and so the masterminds behind the drug smuggling ring are once again unbelievable for Karow.

Reviews

“The story has not yet developed a strong dynamic, despite the thunderstorm. But that is partly due to the fact that here, following the example of American series, one tries to create a horizontal narrative, so many people and conflicts have to be introduced first. […] Hopefully the Berlin 'Tatort' will find the pace and timing in the next few episodes to take us away for good. During the coke episode, you sometimes feel as if you are trying to follow the thoughts of someone you are talking to who has taken a good nosebleed. "

“Rubin and Karow are not crazy, they are lost. But Meret Becker is very great, sensitive and snotty, and Mark Waschke looks out of sad ice-cube eyes at his Berlin. A new team that is well worth seeing, and the confirmation of a trend: While eggs are soon to be hatched on public show television, the crime scene often overcomes the stubbornness typical of the scene. "
